This extravagant squash blossom necklace features ten bear claw squash blossoms each adorned with two branch coral gemstones. Each squash blossom features a finely detailed floral sterling silver design. The Naja pendant features two additional bear claws and six branch coral gemstones as well as a highly decorated sterling silver design. Each pendant is strung onto two sterling silver beaded chains that segway into one at the clasp. Overall, the necklace shows very good condition, showing a warm silver patina, indicative of age. When unclasped and stretched out, the necklace measures 26" long. The Naja alone measures 2 3/4" wide, and 2 1/4" tall.

This gorgeous sterling silver necklace is signed by renowned Navajo artist and jewelry maker Michael Perry. His trade mark "MP" and stamped sterling are present on the backside of the large pendant. The necklace features six large sterling charms with a carved branch coral gemstone surrounded by coral nuggets cut into triangles. These charms are set around individual sterling beads. The extravagant pendant showcases a large branch coral gemstone set on an intricately worked sterling silver back with coral nuggets running down the side and additional triangle gems cut and fixed around the large coral gemstone. The pendant is attached to the necklace by a large silver ring with a single coral gemstone inlaid.

Each discodial gemstone is separated by a sliver of hesche shell.Spaced intermittently throughout the necklace is sterling silver to break up the chain. The signed rectangular pieces carry a traditional Navajo design. Additionally eight purple spiny oyster cylindrical gemstones compliment the lapis lazuli discodial gems. The necklace measures 21.5" from clasp to clasp.

Included in this lot is a Sioux Native American concho top hat. The top hat is a John Sims manufactured in Chicago and constructed from Beaver pelt. The hat features a turquoise & silver concho belt. The top hat is adorned with a 1916 English coin with trade bead accents. Interior dimension of the hat measures roughly 22". It measures 6.75" x 12.5" x 10".

Featured in this lot we have a collection of 14 Montana gambler's carved mother of pearl gaming counter chips from mid 19th century China. The pieces would be used much like poker chips or other counter tokens. They where presumably brought over by the Chinese railroad workers when constructing the transcontinental railroad in the old west. Both the rectangular and circular pieces show flowers and birds with one side featuring the carved images of buildings and two Chinese individuals. The pieces are in good condition showing beautiful pearlescent color. The rectangular piece measures 1 3/4" long by 3/4" wide with the circles 1 1/4" in diameter.

The lot features an exceptional set of early Santee Sioux Native American Indian beaded moccasins dating to circa 1880-90. The moccasins show an Indian tanned hide construction with thick Great American Bison Buffalo parfleche soles sewn with sinew having a mid-height red stroud trade clothe and calico trade clothe ankle that is accented by the mid-high-top tanned hide ankle covering. The front of the moccasins shows excellent petit glass trade seed beads in greasy yellow, sky padre blue, Cheyenne pink, semi-transparent butterscotch, semi-transparent, and faceted metal. The beadwork pattern is in a wonderful traditional geometric floral combination, a style almost exclusively found on Santee Sioux and other Eastern Sioux pieces. The original hide ties are still intact, a wonderful rare addition. Provenance: From a Manheim, Pennsylvania collection. These are truly an excellent set of beaded moccasins that have been well preserved in good condition. Each shows a 10.75 inch sole and 6 inch high ankle.

The lot features a wonderful fully beaded awl case from the Kiowa Native American Indians and dating to the 19th Century. This circa 1880-1890's awl case shows an Indian tanned parfleche Rocky Mountain Elk Hide that is sinew sewn and shows a wonderful traditional geometric beadwork pattern in glass trade seed beads. The top flap shows four rolled tin jingle cones and the bottom shows two pieces of hide that have remnants of original porcupine quillwork. The entire surface of the case including the top flap is covered in authentic period correct glass trade seed beads in a traditional geometric pattern. The beads shown are red white hearts, sky padre blue and semi-transparent cobalt. The case would have held a carved bone awl which would have been used to pierce the thick parfleche hide used in so many of the American Indians way of life. Provenance: From a Manheim, Pennsylvania collection. Measures overall 15.5 inches long with bottom fringe and top flap extended by 1 inch wide.

Offered for sale is this wonderful authentic original Crow Native American Indian beaded belt pouch from circa 1870-1880's. The pouch is thought to have been for tobacco and would have hung from the belt or sash of the owner. The bag shows an Indian tanned hide construction with excellent hand cut long fringe accenting the entire piece along with a bit of trade clothe at the mouth of the bag. The bag shows a tradtiional glass trade seed beaded design alogn both sides of the bag along with mineral pigment dye painted spots of red. The bag shows all period correct glass trade seed beads in sky padre blue, greasy yellow, semi-transparent, red white hearts, black, medium green and semi-transparent amber. The bag shows sinew and thread sewing and has the correct patina and signs of use indicative of its early Indian Wars era age. Provenance: From a Manheim, Pennsylvania collection. The lot features a fantastic hand carved crooked knife from the Eastern Woodlands Native American Indians and dating to the 19th Century. The knife shows a solid hardwood handle having an exquisite hand chip carved American Folk Art style geometric design with the handle having a wonderful swooping curved design that begins with curled accent and culminates in the straight end which holds the blade. The blade is a iron blacksmith hand forged example most likely made from the remnants of another knife or gun parts showing a rich original patina. The blade is held into place with a stud and the handle is wrapped in thick harness saddle leather scraps showing a dark patina from age and use. The knife shows a artful crafted design with impressive original even authentic patina and displays beautifully. Provenance: From a Manheim, Pennsylvania collection. Measures overall 9.25 inches long by 1.75 inches thich with a 2.5 inch blade.

The lot features a wonderful fully beaded flat bag from the Umatila Native American Indians and dating to the 19th Century. The bag shows a a calico and wool trade clothe construction with red stroud accents having the entire front surface covered in authentic floral glass trade seed beads. The beads show an exceptional beaded design having a central floral pattern which is accented by several leaves making this more of an artwork than a large flat bag. The period correct authentic beads include a semi-transparent amber background which is framed in semi-transparent red white hearts having Cheyenne pink, medium green, sky padre blue, and blue in a floral pattern. The bag shows a large pocket which opens 1/3 of the way down the bag, an unusual and interesting design. The bag shows a nice size for its design being 11 inches tall by 8.75 inches wide. Overall the beadwork is in very fine condition with little to no bead loss. The bag itself shows some wear on the edges and a few spots on the back, but overall displays very well. Included in this lot is a collection fo Philip Goodwin offset lithographs. Philip R. Goodwin was an American painter and illustrator who specialized in depictions of wildlife, the outdoors, fishing, hunting and the Old American West. He provided illustrations for numerous books and magazines, as well as for commercial items, such as posters, advertisements and calendars. He is perhaps best known for illustrating Jack London's The Call of the Wild and for providing the cover art for many issues of Outdoor Recreation / Outdoor Life Magazine during the 1920s and early 1930s. He is also the artist who designed the Horse & Rider Trademark of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Five offset lithographs titled; "Adventures on the Nipigon, Hitting the Trail, Where the Tall Pines Grow, An Unexpected Meeting, and The Uninvited Guests" are backed with foam board and shrink wrapped. Prints measure 10.25" x 14.5".

Included in this lot we have a Chinese brass and jade ornate covered box. The box shows wonderfully carved sides with the image of a dragon in clouds on the two sides and what looks a flower and clouds flanked by mountains on each of the ends. The top shows ornate carvings with two pieces of carved circular jade set into the top. The jade pieces are carved in the shape of six interconnected flowers with turquoise set around each piece of jade. The piece is in good condition overall with some wear and some of the turquoise pieces are missing. The box measures 6 1/4" long by 4 1/4" wide by 2 3/4" tall.

This lot includes a Chinese hand painted porcelain enamel pen box originating from the 19th century. The pen box shows wonderfully hand painted designs of flowers and plant life with birds and butterflies amongst the flowers. The sides show a back drop of glint golden paint with the top background is a light teal. The interior of the piece is split into two sections and is a light blue or teal with faded gold accents. The piece is in good condition overall with some wear on the paint. The box measures 7 1/2" long by 3 3/4" wide by 2 1/2" tall.

For your consideration is a Navajo Sleeping Beauty turquoise and silver bracelet. The cuff features 17 sleeping beauty turquoise gems that are expertly set on the cuff. One large gem is surrounded by ten of the smaller turquoise stones. The cuff has a delicate stamped western designs on the sides of the bracelet. Interior circumference measures 6.75".

For your consideration is this impressively large Rococo style modern French mantel clock. The bronze clock sits on pedestal style feet on a fitted, polished granite-like base with its own brass feet. The clock is decorated with rocaille openwork featruring trailing acanthus branches and seated putti. The waist mounted cylindrical skeleton clock features brass gears with serpentine hands pointing to painted enamel Roman numerals. In the lower center is a smaller dial with Arabic numerals with a second hand. The back of the clock opens to reveal battery powered movement. Text on the movement reads, "No (0) Jewels/ Patent Pending/ Made in China." There are no other identifying markings on the clock except a 12 digit lot number on the base. Included in this lot is a set of Crow Native American Indian fully beaded cuffs. The pieces originate from the 20th Century in Montana. These large forearm cuffs are sewn with early glass trade seed beads on tanned hide. The beadwork has a sky blue background with dark blue bead boarder and medium green and orange micro bead designs as well as red micro bead and orange micro bead designs. The edges are lined with a blue fabric. Cuffs are in good condition for the age. Light fraying associated with use is present. Each cuff measures 8.25" long 11" to 12" taper.

The bead work is done in glass seed trade beads. The moccasins have a parfleche sole with light wear marks. They measure 9.5" x 3.5" x 3" tall at the heel.

This is a pair of exceptional Eastern Sioux Native American Indian beaded gauntlets from the 1890's to the 1900's. The gauntlets are made on tanned elk hide with wool trade cloth lining. Each one has beadwork of a traditional whimsical geometric pattern. The beadwork is done in glass seed trade beads with colors such as Sky Blue, Chalk White, Dark Opaque Blue, Black and more. Each cuff also has a decorative fringe. The Sioux beaded gauntlets are in excellent condition. They measure 12.25" long and 6.5" wide at the top of the cuff.

For sale in this lot we have a fine traditional hand carved and shaped bone hide scrapper from the Northern Plains Sioux Native American Indians that dated to circa 19th Century. The piece is constructed from a Great American Bison Buffalo large bone that has been carved and shaped. The piece shows a rich heavy patina with primitive carving techniques adding to its very early Indian wars era age. The piece shows the typical drastic right turn top which would have originally held a gun barrel or bit of old iron blade adhered to the end with parfleche rawhide wrappings, which is now missing. It shows a hole at the end of the handle to attach a leather strap to the scrapper. This is truly one of the earliest museum quality adze hide scrappers of such a large size that we have had the pleasure of making available for sale. The scrapper measures 12" long, 5" wide at the head, and 1/2" thick at the base of the handle.

Included in this lot is a Native American arrowhead artifact collection collected in Minnesota and the Dakotas'. The display is comprised of dovetails, a 4 3/4" spear point, bird points for a total of over 50 points. It is accented by Hudson Bay white trade beads as well as red and white seed beads and dentil shells. The display is housed in an attractive wooden frame, with a rich dark patina. The sword was used by Nazi officers as part of parade and ceremonial dress and was not intended for combat use. The sword is made of a stainless steel blade with a ornate gold painted aluminum guard and pommel along with a steel scabbard. The sword shows ornate designs across the guard and handle with the pommel in the shape of a lions head with ruby eyes. The side of the guard features the embossed image of an eagle carrying a swastika with the other side of the guard being blank. The blade is marked "Original Eickhorn Solingen". The piece is in good condition overall with some wear on the grip, pommel, and guard. The scabbard shows most of its original black color with some spots of wear and rust. These three men as well as countless others under their command faced death so that the world might know the mysteries of the polar regions. They documented the horrors and hardships they faced and broadcast to the world the wonders and beauty that lie in the Arctic zones. Binding on the book has worn through age. The gilded pages have held up well and the stamped leather cover and back are in good shape as well. The Polar and Tropical Worlds was written by Dr. G Hartwig and is a complete 1 and 2 volume set. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, with the 2 line address/ patent dates reading "Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass USA Pat'd Jan. 17& 24, 65" and "July 11, 65. Aug 24, 69. Jan. 19 1875. Reissue July 25 1871" on top of the rib. Matching numbers are present on the frame, barrel latch and cylinder. The barrel, frame and cylinder show a rich patina in the blu'd finish. The top of the barrel is marked "Dakota New Model Hartford. CT." While the left side is marked "(Bisley Model) 45 Long Colt." The receiver is case hardened and shows three hallmarks on the left side. The grips are constructed from straight grain Italian walnut. The firearm is in like new condition and operates as intended. Serial Number: 290. For your consideration in this lot we have a large 18th century French fireplace bellows with wooden stand. The bellows are made of wood and leather with cast iron hinges and tacks. The bellows show three primary wooden sections with leather going in between the wood and attached with large iron tacks making the air chamber. The nozzle and reinforcements along the piece as well as the old housing rod one each side are made of iron. The bellows show good craftsmanship and are unmarked. It is in good condition for its age with some wear on the metal and wood due to age and some holes in the leather. Overall a wonderful decorative piece with a lot of history. The bellows measures 39" long by 31" wide and 10 1/2" tall when not opened.

For your consideration is this hand carved Vietnamese coffee table. This one of a kind table shows an irregularly shaped, carved top. The carving depicts a village scene with huts, palm trees and workers harvesting coconuts. A second species tree in the scene is believed to be the Bronze Loquat, native to Southern Vietnam. A specially custom cut glass covers the top. The table has three legs featuring leafy decoration,horned bull heads, and hoofed feet. The table is in good overall condition but does show a previous repair. the table measures about 50.5" x 36" x 18" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a Sheffield plateau silver mirror made by Thomas and James Creswick in 1811. The piece shows a old style mirror with a ornate silver border and attached to a internal wood backing. The border shows a ring of flowing leaf and floral designs bordering the mirror with a smooth undercut slope below that leading to a border appearing as round bands bunched together with ornate looking bow like structures periodically along the bands. It also shows three foot like pieces that extend down past the backing and travel up about halfway up the slope, they are made in flowing leaf like designs. The silver slope is marked with a coat of arms as well as a checkered pattern on the underside of the ring. The back of the piece shows a wood backing with four silver hinges coming of the border. The piece is in good condition for its age with the mirror showing some wear, the silver shows a warm patina and is missing the screws for the hinges. The mirror comes with a note from the Gump Collection of Authentic Antiques with information of the make, year it was made and who made it. The mirror measures roughly 15 3/4" in diameter with the piece measuring 19 1/2" at the widest.

The chair features spindles on the arms and back, as well as four spindles at the base. The chair adjusts up or down to function as either a high chair or stroller with push handle. The chair shows slats for a tray but the tray is not included. This unique piece of furniture is in good overall condition (loose spindles) and measures 38" T (high chair) x 15" W x 25" D.

This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth wax sculpture titled "Woodhawker". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. This piece depicts a frontiersman loading timber into the back of a horse drawn wagon. This wax figure comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which grants the right of the new owner to have it cast if they so choose. Also, a printed biography of the artist in included. Sculpture measures: 22" x 7.5" x 11.5".

For your consideration is a Tom Miner Petrified Wood Book End. Petrified wood is the result of a tree or tree-like plants having completely transitioned to stone by the process of permineralization. All the organic materials have been replaced with minerals while retaining the original structure of the limb. Unlike other types of fossils which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the original organic material. The petrifaction process occurs underground, when wood becomes buried under sediment or volcanic ash and is initially preserved due to a lack of oxygen which inhibits aerobic decomposition. Mineral-laden water flowing through the covering material deposits minerals in the plant's cells; as the plant's decay, a stone mold forms in its place. The organic matter needs to become petrified before it decomposes completely. The process lasts millions of years. These book matched bookends have a nice green felt bottom and measure 6.25" x 3.75" x 2.25".

For your consideration is a fossilized Dinosaur bone. This fossil was found on a private ranch in southern Utah. It weighs 16 pounds and the species has not been identified. Fossil measures 10.5" x 7.5" x 4.25".

Featured in this lot we have a cast iron Tammany mechanical bank originating from 1873. The bank is made of cast iron in the shape of a portly gentleman sitting in a chair. The figure is shown in a suit with a open slot just above his right arm. The right arm is set on a swivel so if you put a coin in its right hand it will deposit the coin in the slot. The piece is marked in a number of places, the back is marked "Patd Dec 23 1873", "Hall R Pat" on the chair on the figures right side , and "Tammany Bank" on the chair on its left side. The bottom of the chair, on the coin retrieval hatch its marked "Patd June 1873" in faded lettering. The piece is in good condition for its age with some wear on the paint in places. The bank measures 5 3/4" tall by 3 1/2" wide by 4 1/4" deep.

In the history of the United Kingdom, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign, from 20 June 1837 until her death on 22 January 1901 (wikipedia). This piece features incredible detail and wood carving design, as seen on the frame of the mirror as well as the dresser handles. The dresser shows a beautiful slate gray marble top surface. In total, there are three large dresser drawers and two smaller drawers attached to the mirror for accessories or jewelry. This lot features an exceptional old crystal trading post Navajo Native American rug, handmade and constructed with churro wool. Originally the Old Crystal trading post was established in 1894, in this remote part of the Navajo Reservation Southwest of Two Grey Hills and Northwest of Gallup. In 1896 J.B. Moore purchased an interest in the trading post and re-named it Crystal after a pure sparkling mountain spring that was in the area. Due to the remoteness of the Trading Post he started using a mail order catalog to sell his rugs to the Eastern market. The first catalog came out in 1903, with another in 1911. He left the reservation in 1911. During his stay at Crystal he greatly influenced the change in styles of Navajo rugs being produced at the Crystal Trading Post. The rug is in good condition and measures 48" x 64".

The clock case, made in Italy, features faux rosewood with a blonde inlay design and mounted brass ornamentation; it is surmounted by a brass putti playing a trumpet. For your consideration is a Spencer Arms - Bannerman Model 1890 Shotgun. This scarce model 1890 produced by Spencer Arms out of Windsor Connecticut from 1882 - 1889. In 1890 Francis Bannerman & Sons of New York brought the patents and machinery and moved the operation to Brooklyn, New York. They produced what is known as the Spencer-Bannerman models from 1890 to 1907. On this is mounted a slide, which is connected with a vertically oscillating block which constitutes both the breechblock and cartridge carrier, so that a to-and-fro movement of the slide by the left hand operates the breechblock and carrier, this to-and-fro movement of the hand serving to place the cartridge in the chamber, close the breech, withdraw the empty shell, and, after the first discharge, to also automatically cock the hammer. It is capable of being fired six shots in three seconds. The gun is in very good condition for the age with a rich patina having formed over the original blue'd barrel and receiver. The fore grip has a crack running through the walnut and the stock has some dents and scratches attributed to use. The pump/ slide action works as intended. Serial Number: 9903. This rifle was manufactured in the United States as a wartime supplemental rifle for the British Short Magazine Lee-Enfield, the Pattern of 1914 would later be the parent for the U.S. Model 1917 service rifle. Blade front sight, with the two-piece volley sight hardware installed on the stock and bolt catch. SK machined picatany rail has been installed in place of the folding ladder rear sight. The rifle has a marked matching numbered bolt, bolt handle is stamped with the Winchester "W" on the underside and the serial number "210627" and a five-pointed star on the top, and "colliding broad head" military acceptance/release markings on the receiver and stock. The receiver is chambered in .303 and has the British "Broad Arrow" property mark. Behind the front sight underneath the barrel is a roll stamped 303 P14 USA. The rifle measures 46 1/4" with a 26" barrel. Full length straight grain walnut stock is in good condition retaining much of its finish with only a few light dents. For your bidding pleasure is a C. Callahan Co. brass fireman's nozzle. This nozzle has a complete brass construction. The flow control valve has developed a full patina from years of use but still functions fluidly. The flow control valve has the serial number "1341" stamped along with "C. Callahan's Pat. Feb. 3, 1885". The inlet tube has a few dents and dings indicative of the 1885 patent date. Stamped at the bottom of the inlet is "RHW 20". The nozzle overall measures 26" long and 3.5" round at the base of the inlet.

The book is a wonderful narrative about the travels and adventures of Henry Morton Stanley in Africa during the late 1800's. The book features an illustrated cover and spine decorated in gilt. The book has many illustrations throughout with a striking chromolithograph next to the title page. The book is in good condition for age. It measures 6.75" x 9.25".

This is an early edition of "First Across The Continent" by the author Noah Brooks published in 1901. This book features historical pages nicely enhanced by black and white illustrations and a fold-out map. "The story of the expedition of Lewis and Clark is one of surpassing interest. These men, with their faithful followers, were the first white men who crossed the continent of North America between the regions occupied by the Spanish and those of the people of English descent. They were the first to explore the valleys of the Upper Missouri, the Yellowstone, and the Columbia and its tributaries. Many of the red men who inhabited those pathless wildernesses looked for the first time on pale-faces when they saw these adventurous discoverers." The book is in good condition and includes a mylar sleeve. Measures 5.75" x 8.25".

This book was printed in 1891. It tells the story of Sitting Bull and his tragic death. The book contains several illustrations as well. The book is in fair condition with a fantastic designed cover. For your consideration in this lot we have kris dagger with a leather scabbard and panther headed pommel. The knife shows a stainless steel wavy blade, stainless steel cross guard, and carved horn grip with a panther head pommel. The sheath is wood wrapped in black leather with lines geometric lines across the front, and a brass tip. The piece shows embedded silvery pegs in the pommel as part of the grip and the panthers eyes. The dagger is in good condition overall with some minor wear and slight rust spots. The piece measures 11 1/4" long blade and measures 15 3/4" long overall.

This is a Plains Native American Indian beaded medicine pouch. The piece is made on tanned hide with a beaded design on one side and a badger claw on the opposite. The beadwork is done with glass seed trade beads in colors such as Chalk White, Corn Yellow Red, and Navy Blue. This beaded bag is in good overall condition. There is some minor bead loss to each side as shown. The bag measures 6" x 3.5".

This is an Alaskan Inuit Eskimo spirit hoop. The piece has two bentwood hoops adorned with a Jade mask in the center and several Jade figures along the outer edge. In addition, there are attached feathers and a whale baleen oar and wooden harpoon. The back of the piece is signed "Inupiaq - Jeremy Frankson - Point Hope, AK. Dec. 2004". The Inuit spirit hoop is in good condition. It measures 21.25" in diameter.

The lot features an excellent authentic set of fully top beaded moccasins from the Gros Ventre Native American Indians of Northern Montana. The moccasins date to the fourth quarter of the 19th Century and show a museum quality construction. The set is sinew sewn, a true attribute to its early 1800’s age. The set show an Indian tanned moose hide parfleche sole with sinew sewn Bison Buffalo hide top having exceptional early period correct glass trade seed beadwork in a fantastic traditional geometric design. The beads include such colors as chalk white, greasy yellow, red white hearts, and semi-transparent cobalt blue. The moccasins show a very fine geometric in a desirable Buffalo track or key like design. The set shows a very fine construction and large size along with only slight bead loss. The moccasins show the correct patina and age to be from the 19th century including a fine worn foot print on the sole. The Gros Ventre Indian tribe (also referred to as the A'ani, A'aninin, Haaninin, and Atisina) are a Algonquian speaking people from the North Central Montana region. The Gros Ventre's migrated to Montana in the 18th Century due to pressure from the Ojibwe Indians. Measures overall 10.25"L sole that is 4.25" across approx. The heel is 4.25"H when elevated. The set shows some damage, but overall displays wonderfully and is a truly fine set. Provenance: From a Northwestern Montana collection. A similar quality set of Gros Ventres moccasins from the 19th Century was sold for $3,900 at our 8/5/2017 auction.

The lot features a exceptional Southern Cheyenne Native American Indian fully beaded war club dating to the 19th Century. The head is in a skull cracker design with the head being attached to the haft via a wrapping of parfleche rawhide, allowing the head to flap back and forth, gaining momentum when swung. The head shows a stone material as the blunt weapon which is wrapped in parfleche rawhide that is sewn with sinew and shows a dark rich brown patina. The entire wood haft handle is covered in a geometric stripped glass beaded pattern showing chalk white, Cheyenne pink, and cobalt blue. The end of the war club tomahawk shows a wrapping of Great American Bison Buffalo curly fur accenting the 22 inch long drop of horse hair. The war club shows a fine condition which has been preserved over the years. Provenance: From a Northwestern Montana collection. Measures overall 25" L without the drop with the head being 3.5"x4"x2.25".

The lot features an exceptional set of men's fully beaded floral arm cuffs from the Flathead Native American Indians of Montana. The set originates from the late 19th Century and shows a fully early glass trade seed beaded florcal whimsical design with geometric border in chalk white, greasy yellow, medium green, red white hearts, cobalt, semi-transparent blue, sky padre blue, Cheyenne pink, orange, and more. The set shows an eaarly trade cloth and stroud construction with the original Indian tanned hide ties, a wonderful addition. The set shows some very slight bead loss, but overall is very well presevered. One of the finest sets of fully beaded gauntlet cuffs. The set has been professionally museum quality framed and displays very well (secured to a matting with thread that can easily and safely be removed). The 1800's set measures 14"x9" each without including the tie length. Frame measures 23 5/8"x19 5/8".

The lot features a set of ceremonial completely fully beaded moccasins from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The set is from the early to mid 1900's and shows an Indian tanned hide construction with scarce high top ankle. The entire surface shows beadwork including the ankle, top, sides, and bottoms. The set is covered in a traditional geometric pattern of red, green, chalk white, and cobalt. The set shows very good condition and is of a child's size. Measures overall 4.5" Soles and 4.5"H ankle or back.

Featured in this lot is a pair of Early Apache Indian Tanned Hide Pants, c mid-late 1800's. The pants are made of brain tanned hide and long hand cut fringe. The pants (or chaps) are sinew and partially trade cotton sewn. They also have buttons around the waist and in front. These pants are in good overall condition (wear showing) and measure 41" long, 15" across at the waist.

For your bidding pleasure is an Old Pawn Route 66 Navajo sterling silver and turquoise cuff. This bracelet showcases an aged sleeping beauty turquoise gemstone cut into a cabochon. The cuff is accentuated by subtle silver balls and a simple rope design segwaying into two engraved arrows on either side. Cuff is marked sterling and features a bell hallmark. Interior circumference measures 5.75".

Included in this lot we have a Montana taken mule deer shoulder mount. The deer shows a 5x6 rack, it also features professional taxidermist preparation and mounting. The buck shows good coloration, with a soft, off-white face, with a gradual fade to a dark brown at the base of the neck. The rack measures 22" wide, by 24 1/2" deep from the mounting surface, and approximately 43" tall from the bottom of the neck to the top of the rack.

The lot features a wonderful Rocky Mountain Elk Hide Chief’s Blanket with exceptional fully beaded blanket strip. The piece is from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians and is thought to date to the early 1900’s. The blanket strip shows a traditional geometric pattern in all period correct glass trade seed beads. The beadwork shows four crosses along with five geometric symbols with a chalk white base and designs in blue, red, butterscotch yellow, and sky padre blue. The piece would have been worn by a dignified elder of the tribe, a noted warrior or chief around the shoulders as shown by the photograph example. The piece shows overall very good condition and displays very well. Provenance: From a large Utah Western Cowboy and Native American Artifacts collection. Measures 66" x 47".

Featured in this lot we have a tabletop Tournaphone organette from the late 1800's. The tournaphone shows a beautiful black walnut case with faded gold stenciling. The piece features glass top expression panel, reed puller, hand crank bellows, and shows both lid labels in good condition. The tournaphone come with five rolls of paper music and is in good working order. The labels on the inside of the lid are manufacturers label and a directions for use tag. The manufacturer label reads "The Tournaphone - Patented (7 sets of dates from 1877 to 1888) - Tournaphone Music Company - Manufactory and CGeneral Office - No. 15211 - Worcester, Mass.". The piece is in good working order and shows some slight wear indicative of age. The piece measures 20 1/2" wide by 13 1/2" long by 11 1/2" tall.

This is an elegant oak frame with a glass covered cartridge board by Texas-based Tatonka Cartridge Co. Shows 20 of the most popular civilian and military cartridges in the US, ranging from 28 Special to 410 2 1/2". It measures 10 1/4” high by 16 1/2” wide. The cartridges are beautifully displayed in two rows on a green felt background. Each cartridge has an identifying label that looks just like a headstamp. The cases have been clear coated, so the brass retains its shine. The cartridges are complete with their bullets. The board is in excellent condition, and it should provide a notable addition to any quality cartridge collection.

Percussion “DUCKFOOT” three barrel pistol, by W. B. Radney, London, England, c.1850. These unusual multi-barrel pistols were designed to fire all three barrels simultaneously. The approximately 2 1/8” barrels of .38 caliber are affixed to the breech in such a manner that the center barrel is pointed directly ahead while the left and right barrels are aligned slightly to each side. This type of pistol was used to keep more than one threat at bay! It could be loaded with a single round ball in each barrel, shot in each chamber, shot and ball or any combination. This example is in superb condition with clear “W. B. RADNEY” makers stamping on the left side of the receiver and “LONDON” marked on the right side. Each barrel is marked with either “1,” “2,” or “3” with corresponding or matching numbers on the breech. This is important as each barrel will unscrew from the breech for either loading from the breech end or for cleaning. Each barrel and corresponding breech end is properly British Proof marked. The hammer has a half cock and full cock. When at full cock there is a sliding safety bar that when pushed in the forward position locks the hammer to avoid a possible unwanted discharge. Both the hammer and sliding safety function properly. The walnut handle is solid, uncracked and without chips. The wood to metal fit is very tight and secure. The receiver sides and bottom of the trigger guard have simple engraving patterns with all sharp markings and proof stampings. These rare multi-barrel Duckfoot pistols were especially popular with ships captains and officers to ward off potential mutineers. A few officers with a Duckfoot pistol in each hand would quickly deflate the intentions of any mutinous activities on deck! They were also popular weapons with police for crowd control, and along with the famed blunderbuss shoulder arms were also popular with coach drivers who often had to travel along dark and deserted roads where highwaymen were known to lurk. Duckfoot pistols rarely show up on the collector market today and fine working examples are very difficult for the collector to obtain. No Serial Number. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

Factory Engraved Allen & Thurber six shot percussion “Pepperbox” revolving pistol, c.1840s, .34 caliber with 3 7/8” gracefully fluted barrels. This is the medium size Allen Pepperbox that found favor as both a large pocket pistol as well as a holstered belt weapon. These early competitors to the Colt revolver found favor with the “49ers” of California Gold Rush fame as well as with urban dwellers in need of a repeating firearm for self defense. Many were carried as private weapons by soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. Examples in fine condition are rare as these handguns were often used for “daily carry” by their owners. This is a very fine example as it displays a lovely, even uncleaned patina and still retains traces of original blue on the barrels! The usual condition for one of these is heavily worn gray metal at best and more often than not badly rusted, pitted and showing abuse. The frame is factory hand engraved as is the nipple shield and back strap. This is a double action pistol in which a single pull of the trigger revolves the barrel cluster, raises the bar-style hammer and fires the gun. The bar hammer is smooth sided and correctly unmarked because two flutes between the barrels are marked “ALLEN THURBER & CO” and WORCESTER” as well as “Patented” and the date “1845” (later examples have this marking on the side of the bar hammer). Walnut grips are excellent and exhibit much of the original finish. Excellent mechanical condition and a truly fine example of a uniquely American firearm of the pre-Civil War period that has not been re-finished, over-cleaned or altered. Serial Number: 39. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver with 4” octagon barrel, serial number 169269 indicating a Pre-Civil War manufacture date of 1860. A fine original example .31 caliber, five-shot revolver that found favor with Civil War officers and enlisted men as personal weapons. Many of these also saw service in the gold fields of California. One of Colt’s most popular designs that was large enough for aimed fire, but small enough to conceal in a waste band or unobtrusive holster. They also found favor with gamblers and “ladies of the evening.” Barrel correctly marked “ADDRESS SAM’L COLT NEW-YORK CITY” along with “COLT’S PATENT” on the left side of the frame. Nice overall aged patina metal with a particularly fine roll engraved cylinder scene depicting a stage coach holdup. Excellent walnut grips are without chips or cracks, fit beautifully, and still retain fine original varnish finish. This example also shows a mellow, uncleaned brass back strap and trigger guard. This revolver with very attractive overall appearance has all sharp marking and is fully functional with fine screws and original loading lever. One of the most popular and successful of the Colt percussion revolvers and a key model for any Colt, Civil War or Old West collection. Serial Number: 169269. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.

MAUSER C96 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, ALSO KNOWN AS THE FAMED “BROOMHANDLE” MAUSER. This classic German manufactured pistol was the first successful semi-automatic handgun manufactured anywhere in the world. The first examples were produced in 1896 and it was in constant production until 1937. It found favor around the globe and was widely used in the Boer War, the Russo-Japanese war, World War I and even into World War II. Chambered for the 7.63 Mauser (.30 Mauser) pistol cartridge, it had a very high muzzle velocity that was not bested until the .357 magnum revolver cartridge was introduced in the mid-1930s. The Broomhandle Mauser was the choice of a young Winston Churchill who purchased one for his personal use before shipping out to partake in the Boer War in Africa. Because of its diabolical appearance, the Broomhandle Mauser frequently shows up in motion pictures...but always in the hands of the villainous bad-guys! This example shows an uncleaned patina with fine German receiver markings “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A. NECKAR.” Similar markings are on the top of the receiver ring ahead of the ejection/loading port. This is a ten shot pistol with standard 5 ½” barrel loaded by retracting the bolt which will hold open on an empty chamber allowing ten 7.63mm cartridges to be fed by a stripper clip into the box magazine ahead of the trigger guard. It retains the correct and original tangent rear sight that is graduated from 50 to 1000 meters. The back strap is cut for a wood shoulder stock/holster combination (these are widely reproduced today at very reasonable prices). Mechanically tight with walnut grips, this example shows serious use, but is not abused. The bore is worn, but the action and safety lever function correctly. Retains the original German inspection proof marks. This is the grandfather of just about all semi-auto pistols and exudes world-wide history. Serial Number: 315296. For your consideration is an Imperial Japanese Type 32 Cavalry Sword. Introduced in 1899, this was the standard Japanese battle sword well into World War II. Beautifully crafted for heavy combat this sword has a checkered steel backed handle with matching checkered walnut handle with smooth steel hand guard. This early example also has a leather finger loop inside the guard that is intact- these usually missing. The scabbard correctly has one hanging ring and retains its black paint finish that shows only minor wear. The blade measures an impressive 33 inches and is serial numbered 73244. Overall sword length without scabbard is 38” and with scabbard 39.” The blade is bright and in excellent overall condition as is the walnut handle with leather finger loop. The Type 32 Cavalry Sword was an especially popular weapon in the Russo-Japanese war lasting from February 8, 1904 to September 5, 1905. The Imperial Japanese Type 32 Cavalry Sword is an artifact full of history on an international scale stretching throughout the first half of the 20th century.

This magnificent Navajo Native American Indian squash blossom necklace, signed and crafted by expert Navajo silversmith - Jon McCray. The fine piece shows a large central Naja pendant, flanked on both sides by five blossoms. Each charm of the necklace is adorned with a inlaid oxblood coral, sugalite, onyx, malachite and sleeping beauty turquoise gemstones. Each pendant is strung onto a sterling silver bead chain. Overall, the necklace shows very good condition, showing a warm silver patina, indicative of age. When unclasped and stretched out, the necklace measures 27.5" long. The Naja alone measures 3.25" wide, and 3.25" tall.

The gems sit proudly on a sterling silver base. Each earrings measures 1" x 0.75".

This is a historic and important steatite stone carved cooking vessel or bowl from the Shoshone Native American Indian people of the 19th Century. The bowl was said to have been made in the 1860's. The bowl was owned by the daughter of Cheyenne Chief Dull Knife, White Woman who was wife to Red Bear. The bowl has been examined and authenticated by renowned historian and Togia language expert, Wendell Grangaard of The Guns of History, Inc. These vessels have been documented as being a rich historic Shoshone Native American Indian tradition as being “inherited by the daughters of the family. If there were no daughters, a son would get the pots, They were property of the family. They were never traded” as stated by anthropologist Demtri Shimkin paraphrased Dick Washakie, son of the Eastern Shoshone Chief Washakie. On the exterior bottom of the bowl the owners name, White Woman is carved, along with the following message: “married – Red Bear – Shoshone – son Crawler – daughter Cheyenne Chief Dull Knife White Woman – daughter Spotted Buffalo Girl – son Plenty Buffalo – White Woman.” The previous carving is shown in illustration 1. On the inside of the bowl written in Togia Lakota Language as shown in Illustration 2 is another message, “White Woman married Red Bear – Four Horse Daughter – son Plenty Buffalo – Shoshone – daughter Cheyenne Chief Very Brave Dull Knife – Spotted Buffalo Girl – son Crawler.” The piece comes with the signed letter describing the piece’s history from Wendell Grangaard along with a detailed illustration showing the markings he has translated. Wendell Grangaard is the foremost knowledge on the Togia language along with the Battle of the Little Bighorn as he is the author of the book, “Documenting the Weapons Used at Little Bighorn” 2015. Wendell was also intricate in the authentication and examination of the historic George Armstrong Custer Captured Sharps Carbine from Chief Black Kettle that sold at auction for $127,000. Comes with documentation including a detailed description authenticating the piece signed by Wendell, along with a illustration showing the togia language carvings drawn. Other documentation includes “The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, soapstone bowls and the Mountain Shoshone: by Richard Adams. Accompanied by the bowl is the original museum tag from the Sioux Nation Historical Museum of Sioux Falls, South Dakota from curator Douglas Vernon. Also accompanying this lot is the book “Storied Stone: Indian Rock Art of the Black Hills Country” by Linea Sundstrom from 2004 University of Oklahoma Press. In the book on page 42 it states, “The Oglala holy man Nickolas Black Elk told of Lakota use of rock art in the Black Hills: “There is a place in the Black Hills, also on the Little Big Horn, a bank of solid rock where there are inscriptions that only a medicine man can read. It is a mystery…” Also on page 69 and page 179 are depictions of typical phosphene or entopic designs that match the symbols documented to be found in the rock art of the Black Hills. Many if not all of these symbols that are shown and documented to be authentic uses of Lakota language were also passed down to Wendell Grangaard. This book virtually confirms the authentic documentation of these togia language carvings in the historic rock carvings of the Lakota Sioux in Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana. Early Native American Indian Steatite bowls with no documentation or carvings are still of a highly collectible nature with some examples selling at auction such as the California Coastal bowl that sold for $3,000 and was valued at $8,000 in 2014. This bowl carrys a much more important historic and collectible value as it has been documented to have been carved by a Cheyenne and Shoshone woman. Measures overall 5.75”x5.5” and 2” thick. The bowl was informally appraised by Grangaard at over $20,000.

For your consideration is an antique venetian Chevron trade bead necklace. These Chevron trade beads are a very large six layer bead that originates from a very old Alaska Inuit collection. The beads have been examined by a local bead expert and found to be authentic original examples. Chevrons beads are made by a multi-part process. They start with the making of the cane, then another color glass is added and then this is usually put into a 12 point star mold. This process is repeated for each additional layer on the bead. Chevron beads, also called "Rosetta"and "Star" beads have been made Venice since the late 1400's and are still in limited production today. The Venetian Chevron production with the highest volume of beads was in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Chevron beads have been traded throughout the world, but most heavily in Africa. The Dutch traders were the first to bring Chevron beads to Africa in the late 1400's. This beaded necklace is crafted from a beautiful array of chevron beads of varying sizes inter spaced by elegant cream colored beads. This necklace features 19 large chevron beads. In between are the large chevron beads are two smaller trade beads. They are strung onto a grass rope which measures 20" long tied. The large chevron beads measure at the largest 38.25mm in the length and 29mm diameter. At the smallest the beads each measure 34.69mm in length and 24.23mm in diameter. These beads sell regularly for $75 to $100 per bead putting the strands value at $1,425 to $1,900

This bronze depicts a Native American Indian scout perched atop a rock structure surveying. He is carrying a spear in his right had and has his bow and quiver on his back. Included in this lot is an Engraved J. Cooper percussion pistol. This piece is a hand crafted early percussion pistol made by gunsmith, J. Cooper. The firearm is .52 caliber. The pistol is from the early 1800's and shows overall rare condition for its age with the lock plate and hammer having nearly all the original coloring, and excellent conditioned walnut hard wood. The piece has a wooden ramrod and an octagon 4” barrel. This is a Derringer large caliber small pistol styled after the famous gunsmith, Henry Deringer. The side plates, bar hammer, backstrap, butt, and trigger guard are all engraved with a simple but elegant scroll and vine pattern. This lot features a Oneida Newhouse, Animal Trap Company Number 114 Wolf Trap. Newhouse traps are the creation of Sewell Newhouse, and the Oneida Community. When Sewell moved to Oneida County, New York at the age of 14, he spent most of his time in the woods, becoming well-aquainted with local Native American tribes. Under their guidance, he became a well-rounded woodsman, especially interested in pursuit and capture of wild animals. Sewell made his first trap of scrap metal found in his fathers workshop at 17 years old. In 1849, Newhouse was approached by John Humphrey Noyes, who had just launched a communal living venture on the banks of Oneida Creek, a few miles from Kenwood, New York. The commune was a religious idea, intended to save mankind. It was based on the idea that a perfect life could only be lived if people sacrificed everything to the community’s interest. Newhouse joined Noyes’ Oneida Community, and there he continued to make steel traps in the old way, by hand. With the aid of the community, Newhouse traps became the largest manufacture of animal traps in the world, with 2/3 traps showing either the Newhouse or Victor name. In 1925, Oneida sold its trap making division to Animal Trap Company of America, based out of Lilitz, PA. ATC continued manufacture of Oneida Newhouse traps until 1976. This trap is marked on the pan; "Oneida Newhouse - Animal Trap CO. Lititz, PA. - REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. - Made in U.S.A. - 114". The trap is in good condition overall, with prominent teeth, and its original drag chain. The trap measures 22 1/2" long, and has a 2 3/4" pan.

The lot features an original blacksmith hand forged antique Bear Trap from the fur trade era of the 19th Century. This 1800's trap shows a large size with double strip and round 2.5 inch seat. The trap also shows blacksmith forged heavy chain links with a heavy solid iron drag. The piece shows signs of being hand forged and is truly in good condition for its early rare age. Measures overall 23 5/8"L x 6.25"H x 9.5"W.

You are bidding on a C. Sharps & Co. 22 Long Rifle Model 1 Pepperbox. The pepperbox features a brass frame, four shot barrel, and engraved gutta percha grips. The firearm also comes with a custom leather holster. The story of the Sharps four-barrel pistol begins, officially, on December 18, 1849. On that date, the United States Patent Office issued patent number 6960 for a revolver to Christian Sharps, then residing in Washington, D.C. This "revolver" was, actually, not a revolver at all, but a pepperbox in which the barrels didn't revolve. It was fired by a striker which did revolve, though, on a center post to hit, in sequence, the percussion caps which were placed on nipples on the ends of the barrels. The side hammer served both as a cocking lever and as the force behind the striker. The pistol was not produced on a commercial basis until 1859, after Sharps had become sole owner of the Fairmont Rifle Works in West Philadelphia. By this time, the metallic cartridge had been introduced and Sharps was able to develop his design into a practical repeating pistol. Patent number 22753 was issued to Sharps on January 25, 1859, again for a "revolver". The first model was .22 caliber. Made with a brass frame, it had a spur or stud trigger, and was a single-action, four-shot repeater. Approximately 85,000 of these little pepperboxes were made in the ten years between 1859 and 1868. You are bidding on a great example of a Remington-Beals Navy .36 Caliber Percussion Revolver. The revolver features a 7.5" octagon barrel, 6 shot cylinder, walnut grips, and brass trigger guard. The Remington-Beals Model Revolvers along with subsequent models and variations were percussion revolvers manufactured by Eliphalet Remington & Sons in .31 (Pocket) .36 (Navy) or .44 (Army) caliber, used during the American Civil War, and was the beginning of a successful line of medium and large frame pistols. It is commonly, though inaccurately, referred to as the Model 1858 due to the patent markings on its cylinder, "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW MODEL." This example with excellent mechanics shows use but no abuse. Metal surfaces are nicely aged and patina, original walnut grips fit well and show normal use. The top of is correctly marked “PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS - ILION, NEW YORK U.S.A. - NEW MODEL.” Serial numbers began at 23,000 in 1861. The serial number of this example is 5896X (correctly located under the barrel and hidden by the loading lever) indicating that it was an early production revolver made during the Civil War. Offered in this lot is a First year production Smith & Wesson Number 2 Old Model Army Revolver, chambered in .32 caliber. The revolver started manufacture in the same year that the Civil War commenced; 1861, and ran until 1874. No. 2 Army revolvers under serial number 35731 were manufactured during the Civil War - This firearm shows a 4684 serial! The S&W No. 2 was the manufactures first revolver chambered above .22 caliber. It is quoted from 'Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms'; "The Model No. 2 was a popular sidearm with many officers and enlisted men during the Civil War, General George Armstrong Custer is known to have owned a pair of these... The notorious Western Gunslinger 'Wild Bill' Hickock, while marshal of Deadwood was carrying a Model 2 Army (As well as aces and eights) the night he was shot in August 1874".Typically Number 2 Army's are found in heavily used, and abused condition, this example shows some use, but displays exceptional care in maintenance, with lovely matching serial number rosewood grips, a nice 5" barrel, with good rifling, solid hinges, and mechanical components, showing no evidence of over-cleaning or alterations. Featured in this lot we have a Marlin model 39A lever action rifle chambered in .22 caliber. The rifle shows a blue'd 24" round barrel, walnut stock, full tube style magazine, and plastic butt pad. The rifle is marked on the top of the barrel, reading "The Marlin Firearms Co. - Est. 1870 - New Haven, Conn, U.S.A. - Model 39A - 22 Cal. S. L. & L.R.". The model 39A is still considered one of the finest examples of a lever .22 rifle, and one of the most accurate .22 rifles ever produced. The rifle shows good condition with some light dents in the fore grip and a little wear on magazine tube. Very high condition Smith & Wesson Model No.1, Third Issue revolver, 7 shot, caliber .22 short rim fire. This was the final incarnation of the first metallic cartridge S&W revolvers that launched the company into being one of the most famous and successful firearms manufacturers of all time. This superior quality revolver was made from 1868-1881 and was a particular favorite of women or anyone needing a small, multi shot self defense weapon. This model is known as a “tip-up” revolver as the barrel tips up for loading and is secured by a hinge at the top of the barrel and frame juncture. For unloading fired cases, the barrel was tipped upward, the cylinder slid forward and free and then the stationary rod mounted under the barrel was utilized to push the empty cartridge cases free from the cylinder chambers. Loading was simple. The cylinder was easily loaded with seven cartridges, the cylinder was replaced in the frame and the barrel swung down and spring-locked in place. At this point the gun was ready to be fired. Since these were small arms and easily concealed in pockets or purses, most saw considerable carry use and surviving specimens today are usually found with much of the original finish worn off. This is a superb example in the middle serial number range for this model of 94389. It retains nearly all of the bright factory nickel finish and has beautiful factory rosewood grips that are in excellent condition showing no chips or cracks. The mechanics are also fine and even the bore is bright with sharp rifling. It retains perfect, sharp and correct barrel markings consisting of the Smith and Wesson address and patent dates ending in 1860. Overall, this early S&W is in a state of preservation seldom seen for a small pocket revolver made in the mid-1870s. Included in this lot is a very rare opportunity to bid on one of the oldest forms of firearms extant! This is a circa 1400s to early 1500s Hand Cannon! Truly the first type of firearm used anywhere in the world. Almost all of this genre of firearm comes from archeological sites where all such artifacts end up in museums and almost never on the collector market. This example, like nearly all in existence, is made of heavy iron that is now heavily and evenly pitted from age. Probably of European origin, possibly German, this large example is approximately 8” long and approximately 2” wide at the muzzle. It is octagon shaped with a 1” bore diameter. There is a pronounced flair to the rear end and a slight flair to the front end of this weapon. The touch hole for placing the lit “wick” or match is located approximately ¾” from the rear. These primitive firearms were typically lashed to the end of a pole- there is a notch cut into the rear side of this example that obviously was used as a securing point for lashing to a pole. They were muzzle loaded with ball, shot or even stones and ignited through the touch hole. Usually they were used by a team of two in which one held and “aimed” the pole with loaded hand cannon attached while the second member of the team held the match or burning stick. Upon command, the match holder placed the burning end to the touch hole and set off the charge. The hand cannon is now an elusive item for any arms collection as most are not on the collector market, but rather on exhibit in castles or museums in Europe. Few have come up for sale in the last decade. One example, similar to this one, was offered at auction by Hermann Historica, Munich, 7 April, 2008. It sold for 2400 Euro. (papers showing photos of this item and sale included with this similar hand cannon) Probably there are only a handful of these early firearms in private collections. Included in this lot we have a Hartford torpedo shaped minnow float originating from the 1910's. The float is constructed out of steel and is designed to be pulled behind a boat. The piece is designed to hold bait minnows in the water to insure the minnows are healthy and are fresh. The minnow float shows three rows of six holes on each side and a sliding latch able door. The piece is in good condition overall and shows some wear indicative of age. The piece measures 25" tall by approximately 6" in diameter.

For your consideration is "End of the Trail" Bronze sculpture by James Fraser. This iconic Western bronze by James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953) is one of the most recognized symbols of the American West. Fraser meant it to be viewed as a reverent memorial to a valiant people. The sculpture depicts the raw emotion of a lone Indian figure with his horse, both exhausted after years of a losing battle. The horse stands on a rocky bronze base. It is dated 1894 and is signed by the artist. The bronze sits on an oak base and measures 12.75" x 6.75" x 15.5" tall.

Included in this lot is an Original Gerry Wentworth bronze sculpture title "The Voyageurs". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This piece depicts a trio of mountain men on horse back ascending a step hillside. The bronze shows exceptional detail, is signed "The Voyageurs". The sculpture depicts three fantastically detailed stallions - each side by side, and each posed in a mid-stride gallop. The two are fighting in a open section surrounded by forest and you can see the rest of the buffalo herd in the upper right in the background. The piece is signed "B Peets 1987" in the bottom right hand corner. The print shows wonderful detail particularly in the two fighting kings. The image is set in a wood frame with a tan border. The surface of the buckle shows a lot of intricately carved flower and floral patterns with a rope like border around the perimeter. The piece is marked in the back with a tag reading "Manufacturing - Crumrine - Jewelers Reno, NV USA - Jewelers Bronze" and is marked in the metal "CRUMRINE MFG". The piece is in good condition with wonderful bright metal. The buckle measures 6" wide by 4 1/2" tall.

Offered for bidding in this lot is a Native American Indian arrowhead, and artifact display. The display is comprised of 26 obsidian points, including bird points, dovetails, and spear points, the largest measuring 3". Additionally, the display is finished with Hudson Bay red, white and black white heart pony trade beads, with dentalium shell pin wheel accents. Centering the display is a piece ancient Indian pottery. The display is presented in a gorgeous gold leaf frame with attractive aged patina. The display shows excellent condition overall. The frame measures 17.75" square.

The lot features a Sioux Native American Indian fully beaded awl case dating to the 19th Century. The case shows a parfelche lining that is covered in Indian tanned hide and accented by period correct early glass trade seed beads sewn with sinew. The beadwork shows a wonderful geometric linear pattern in sky padre blue, red white-heart and semi-transparent green. At the opening is a fancy beaded fringe with faceted and seed beads in a black color with a matched beaded top loop. The base shows three Indian hide fringe with iridescent seed beads and nine cobalt blue wound glass early trade beads. The case would have held a bone awl, a slender pointed tool that allowed the user to puncture thick hides such as Buffalo. The case shows very good overall condition and an early age. From a large Cowboy and Native American Indian collection in Montana. Measures 10" x 1".

This lot contains a pair of Flathead Native American Indian, high top tanned leather hide beaded moccasins. The moccasins show two piece construction, and hard-sole bottom. The moccasins use semi-transparent red, blood red, white and black seed beads to adorn the edges of the legs, and to depict geometric pattern on the face of the foot, and the front of the shin. These moccasins utilize hard, up-turned soles to prevent sharp rocks from running into the seams, and injuring the foot. The moccasins show good condition and are circa 1950. Each moccasin measures approximately 9 1/2" from heel to toe, 3 1/2" wide at the ball of the foot, and 12 1/2" tall.

The lot features a wonderful fully beaded medium to large flat bag from the Flathead Native American Indians of Montana. The piece shows an old Museum Collection tag stating that it is a Flathead Hand Bag circa 1940-1950. with ID number B-104. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide construction with early plaid calico trade clothe lining with all glass trade seed glass tube beading in sky blue, iridescent, red, blue, and green covering the entire surface of the bag. The bag show very good condition with little to no bead loss. The bag measures 15" x 7 3/8".

Included in this lot is a Tlingit bear carved whale bone and abalone totem. This totem is carved into a large section of whale bone measuring 12" tall and roughly 3.5" round. The totem depicts the image of a bear with abalone shell accents in the eyes, ears, nose and claws. The Tlingit people, native to the Pacific Northwest and southeastern Alaska, are tied very close to their spiritual beliefs. Their items and artwork imbued with spiritual power.

Cody, known as the legendary Buffalo Bill. Born in a log cabin in Iowa, he was a buffalo hunter, stagecoach driver, Pony Express rider, Civil War soldier, and a scout for the U.S. army before beginning his career as the star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West, which electrified audiences around the world from 1883 to 1917. Bill's sister, Helen Cody Wetmore writes an affectionate biography that recalls both the man and the legend, his colorful personality and ironic wit, as well as his celebrated international status. Before becoming a showman, Cody tried his luck as a land speculator, a hotelkeeper, and a justice of the peace. These pages also show the author herself growing up on the wild frontier. For your consideration is Around the World with General Grant Vol. I. This leather bound book was written by John Russell Young and is the first volume. Binding is in good condition for the age and retains the gold lettering. This book was published in 1879 and chronicles the travels of our Eighteenth President throughout various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. The book measures 10.5" x 7.5" x 2.25".

This is a first edition 1885 set of “Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant” Volume I & Volume II. The piece was published in 1885-1886 by Charles L. Webster & Company New York. The piece shows leather covers with gold stamped lettering on the binding. Volume I shows an excellent etching of Grant as a young soldier with Volume II having a portrait of the more known image of President U.S. Grant. These memoirs were written from the fall of 1884 and completed four days before his death July 23, 1885. The set was published by Grant’s friend, Samuel Clemmons (Mark Twain) under the alias of his nephew, Charles L. Webster. This is a wonderful excellent quality set and a must own for any Civil War enthusiast. Cover shows some wear, but overall a very rare and desirable well preserved set. Volume I, after the title page, has what appears to be a hand written note by Grant, possibly etching or print. Together these measures 6.5"x9 3/8" and each is 1.75" thick.

For your consideration is a Winchester Model 1897 Slide Action Shotgun. This Model 1897 features the standard pistol grip, exposed hammer, 30" barrel, and solid frame design. This shotgun holds five rounds in the magazine. The Winchester Model 1897 was designed by John Browning. The Model 1897 is an external hammer shotgun lacking a trigger disconnector. This means that the user can hold the trigger down while cycling the shotgun and once the action is returned to battery the shotgun fires. The firearm itself is classified as a slide action pump shotgun. It was the first truly successful pump-action shotgun produced. Throughout the time period the Model 1897 was in production, over a million of the type were produced in various grades and barrel lengths. The 1897 introduced a "take down" design, where the barrel could be taken off, a standard in pump shotguns made today. You are bidding on a Winchester Model 1892 .32 WCF Lever Action Rifle. The rifle features a 24" barrel, walnut stock, original buckhorn sights. The Winchester Model 1892 was a lever-action repeating rifle designed by John Browning as a smaller, lighter version of his large-frame Model 1886, and which replaced the Model 1873 as the company's lever-action for pistol-caliber rounds such as the .44-40. This rifle shows good furniture condition, no noticeable deep dents or scratches and only a repair on the fore grip. The mechanics of the rifle are tight and function beautifully. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Overall a great example of a Model 1892. The receiver and barrel show little bluing and some shallow pitting. This rifle was manufactured in 1893. This lot provides you with a Winchester Repeating Arms Company Model 1894 Lever Action saddle ring carbine, chambered for .25-35 WCF cartridge. The rifle was designed by renowned John Browning, and dates to manufacture year 1911. The Mod. 1894 (Model '94) became one of the most popular, and successful hunting rifles of all time, originally chambered to fire the .32-40 Winchester and the .38-55 Winchester. In 1895 Winchester went to a different steel composition for rifle manufacturing that could handle higher pressure rounds. This example utilizes a 20" round barrel, a fixed semi-buckhorn rear sight, paired with a blade front sight, and a nickel plated finish, contrasted by beautiful hardwood fore grip and stock. The rifle is marked with the correct roll-stamping, reading; "MODEL 1894 - WINCHESTER - TRADE MARK" on the upper-tang, and "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. - NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED AUGUST 21 1894 - NICKEL STEEL BARREL - ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER - .25-35 - WCF" on the upper left of the barrel. Overall, the rifle shows fair aesthetic and mechanical condition, with light wear to the nickel finish, and refinished hardwood stock and fore grip. For bidding in this lot is a Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in rare caliber .38-40, serial number 234787, made in 1887. Of the over 750,000 Model 1873s made by Winchester less than one third were carbines. And of those carbines, the standard caliber was .44-40 with either the .38-40 or .32-20 caliber being extremely scarce variations. The Model 1873 was Winchester’s earliest center fire cartridge firing rifle and was immediately popular with frontiersmen, lawmen and outlaws alike, ranchers, cowboys and Native Americans. Made in more limited numbers, the famed saddle ring carbine is often seen in period photographs of the Texas and Arizona Rangers as well as outlaw gangs. One of the only authenticated photographs of outlaw Billy The Kid shows him holding a Winchester 1873 saddle ring carbine. This fine example, aside from being in the rare chambering of .38 WCF (.38-40 Win.), is in unaltered, fine condition. This in itself is unusual as most saddle ring carbines were used hard in the Western Frontier and the few surviving examples typically found on the collector market today often show extremely hard use and often abuse with replaced parts and broken stocks etc. This example came out of Montana and displays fine wood with very tight wood to metal fit, showing that the walnut stock and forend have not been sanded or replaced. The overall metal on the receiver, barrel and magazine display a wonderful soft aged blue patina with fine original blue on the loading gate. The unpolished brass lifter on the bottom of the receiver displays a desirable mustard yellow uncleaned finish. This carbine further retains the original ladder rear sight with slide intact (these usually missing or replaced), the original front sight as well as the saddle ring and original staple in the left side of the receiver. The dust cover is also intact which is unusual as most are missing from this model, especially on carbines. The correct carbine butt plate has the brass sliding trap door for cleaning rod storage and the lever catch is also intact. The barrel top is clearly marked in two lines: “WINCHESTER’S-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN CT” over “KING’S IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED- MARCH 29, 1866 OCTOBER 16, 1860.” Behind the rear sight and directly in front of the receiver top is the correct caliber designation stamping “38 W.C.F.” The upper tang is also clearly marked “MODEL 1873.” The action is tight and fully functioning and the bore shows good rifling all the way through. In all, an exceptional early example 1873 Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine in superior, unaltered, original condition that is significantly more rare than the Winchester 1873 rifle version. The carbine qualifies as an Antique Long Gun, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check. Serial Number: 234787.

For auction in this lot is an extremely low serial number, very early Smith & Wesson .32 Caliber Model 1 ½ single action revolver. This revolver with 3 ½” octagon barrel is numbered 948, indicating a first year/end of Civil War production. According to S&W historian, Roy Jinks, “This model was introduced in April, 1865 and was designed as a medium caliber pocket revolver. It was manufactured in blue or nickel finish and with 3 ½” or 4” barrel lengths. The Model 1 ½ First Issue was a popular pocket revolver of travelers, gamblers and many individuals as a house gun. It was replaced in 1868 by the Model 1 ½ Second Issue…” The total production for the Model 1 ½ First Issue was 26,300 revolvers.” The bright blue on the frame shows no signs of being polished and much remains in a beautiful state of uncleaned preservation. The blue cylinder and barrel, as is typical of 153 year old blue finish, has aged to a pleasing and attractive uncleaned aged blue patina. The Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. address and patent dates are clearly stamped on the barrel top with the correct early style marking showing the last patent date of 1859 (later production showed a patent date of 1865). The barrel retains the original silver front sight and the original excellent condition rosewood grips have the matching serial number stamped on the inside and show most of the original varnish. All mechanics are excellent, tight and fully functioning with even the hinge tight (these usually loose). Additionally, the rifled bore is in fine condition. This interesting and early S&W was made with the cartridge ejector permanently fixed below the barrel. To reload the weapon, the barrel was tipped up, the cylinder was pulled forward and out of the frame and then the empty shell casings could be poked out by use of the ejector rod under the barrel. It was a simple and sturdy design that worked well. This was one of the very first successful cartridge revolvers to be made in the U.S. in a caliber larger than .22 The fine overall condition of this example combined with extremely low serial number and a very limited production number for this particular model revolver make it an outstanding collectable handgun by one of America’s oldest and most trusted gun makers. Unique “Traveling-Desk Cased revolver and dagger. This extremely unusual and rare set consists of a Forehand Arms Company .38 Center Fire, five shot revolver in nickel finish and lovely pearl grips with 5 inch barrel that is paired with a beautiful condition double edge spear point dagger by Joseph Rogers & Sons, also with pearl handle. The writer’s desk/case appears to be either dark stained walnut or rosewood and measures 12” wide X 10 ½” high X 2 ¼” deep and has a felt bottom and inside lining along with a small engraved brass catch. At one edge is a raised wood paper guard to hold writing paper in place and prevent sliding. Inside the case is a full length open section for pens and other writing implements. Overall the case is in very fine condition. The revolver is clearly marked on the barrel top: ”FOREHAND ARMS CO. WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A.” over “PAT’D DEC. 7, ’86 & JAN. 11, ’87.” Forehand Arms Co. was active through the 1890s and was the successor to the famed Forehand & Wadsworth arms makers. Their arms were extremely high quality, considered first rate and very similar to Smith & Wesson arms, with whom they were very successful competitors. This example shows excellent pearl grips and a fine nickel finish. The Dagger is complete with its original leather and silver sheath beautifully stitched and in remarkable condition. The pearl handle measures 4 ½” and has a decorative silver band abutting the double guard. The 4 ½” blade is marked “JOSEPH ROGERS AND SONS” over “CUTLERS TO HER MAJESTY” and contains various proof stampings. “Her Majesty” refers to Queen Victoria who reigned from 1837 – 1901. As this dagger is paired with the Forehand Arms revolver, it is probably accurate to date this set from the late 1880s to 1890s. The blade shows no polishing, cleaning or added sharpening and retains a perfect point and unmarred edges. Further, the handle and guard are tight fitting as is the sheath. Truly an outstanding 1890s vintage traveler’s set that is rarely encountered on the collector market today. The print shows blue cloudy skies with some mountains in the background and a pair of dogs in the foreground. The piece shows wonderful attention to detail and landscape. The piece is signed in the bottom left corner reading "CM Russell" with some of the frame blocking the signature. Werner Gisin is a Swiss American painter (1918- 2006) who was known for his landscapes, particularly mountain landscapes. He has done a number of paintings depicting the Grand Teton Mountains and seamed to have a love of these mountains. This painting shows the Grand Teton Mountains in the background with a lightly forested area leading up to them. The painting shows detailed impressionistic art style and is signed "W. Gisin" in the bottom right hand corner. The piece is in good condition with minimal wear. It is set in a glint wood frame with a canvas border around the painting. The frame measures 55 1/2" wide by 37 1/2" tall.

Werner Gisin is a Swiss American painter (1918- 2006) who was known for his landscapes, particularly mountain landscapes. For your consideration is this First Edition, second printing copy of John Muir's, "The Story of My Boyhood and Youth". The book was published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 1913. The second printing has a corrected sentence on page 217. The book has green boards with black stamping on the front and gilt title on the spine. The book is in very fine condition. It measures 5.75" x 8.25" x 1.5".

For your consideration is this beautiful 1914 copy of "The Great Salt Lake Trail". Originally published in 1898, the book was co-written by Colonel Henry Inman and Colonel William F. Cody (a.k.a. Buffalo Bill). From the Preface: "There are seven historic trails crossing the great plains of the interior of the continent, all of which for a portion of their distance traverse the geographical limits of what is now the prosperous commonwealth of Kansas. None of these primitive highways, however, [except the Santa Fe], has a more stirring story than that known as the Salt Lake Trail." This was the trail of the Pony Express, the Overland Stage, and the trail the Mormons took to reach Salt Lake. Buffalo Bill's career started on this trail. The book has a frontspiece, black and white illustrations, and a foldout map. Green pictorial cover with gilt title on the front and spine; gilt top edge. The book is in very fine condition. It measures 6.25" x 9" x 1.5".

This is a very scarce and in demand telling of the history of the Sioux Nation by the Hereditary Chief of the Oglala Tribe of the Sioux Nation, Chief Standing Bear. Orange cloth boards, stamped decorative top and bottom borders with the illustration of a peace pipe and lettering in brown on the front, brown lettering on the spine. The book shows little wear and is in fine condition; Ex Libris sticker in front cover. The book measures 6" x 8.25" x 1.5".

For your consideration is this First American Edition copy of "The Last Journals of David Livingstone" , by Horace Waller. The book contains a frontspiece portrait under tissue paper, maps of Livingstone's travels, and 31 illustrations. This book was published in 1875 by the R.W. Bliss & Company and is an abridged reprint of the original London edition. The book has reddish brown stamped cover with gilt decoration and gilt lettering/ decoration on the spine. This book is in good condition for its age, showing considerable wear and some foxing, but having a good spine. Hinges are rough, but intact. The book measures 6" x 9" x 1.5".

Featured in this lot we have a rare large map of Bozeman Montana from 1912. The map shows the street and building layout of Bozeman circa 1912. The map shows each road in the city at the time as well as numbers off the blocks, as well as the names of any of the land owners. The piece was compiled and drawn from the official records and surveys conducted by C. M. Thorpe C.E. Bozeman, as stated on the map. The map is marked "City of Bozeman Montana 1912. - scale of 300 ft. to the inch" with a legend to the upper left and a compass on the right. This map is made of a canvas like paper with a wool backing. The piece shows good condition overall for its age with some water damage on the left side and some damage along the borders. The piece measures 48" wide by 50" tall.

For your consideration is a R.C. Gorman "Thunderstorm" Lithograph, dated 1983. This piece depicts three Native American women sitting and watching a storm move in through the plains. The lithograph is signed RC Gorman and is an artist proof. The print has deckle edges with cream colored linen mat and fillet. The piece measures 29 1/2" x 22 1/2" and is framed in a carved, stained oak which measures 50 1/2" x 41 1/2".

This lot includes a Olaf Moller oil painting on canvas of a mountain landscape. Olaf Moller (1901- 1985) was born in Idaho and was known for his landscape, portrait, and mural paintings. He had studied under artists such as Henry McCarter, Daniel Garber, and Hugh Breckenridge. The painting shows part of the valley leading up to Jackson Lake with the Grand Teton Mountains taking up most of the background. The painting shows wonderful impressionistic art style while still showing much detail. The piece is signed in the bottom right hand corner, reading "Olaf Moller". The canvas is set in to a gold colored wood frame and shows good condition. The frame measures 30 1/2" wide by 28" tall by 2 1/4" thick.

Featured in this lot we have a Kevin Red Star serigraph titled 'Crow Husband and Wife'. Red Star was born in 1943 on the Crow reservation in south east Montana. He was born into a creative family and found painting and art at an early age. In the late 1960's he was chosen to be in the first group of students accepted into the Institute of American Indian Arts located in Santa Fe. He has since become a well known artist known for his paintings of Native Americans that are sought after by collector and gallery alike. The painting shows two Native Americans of the Crow tribe with the wife seated in the front with the husband standing behind her. Both of the figures show beautiful and colorful clothing. The piece shows wonderful detail in the clothes and faces of each individual. The piece is signed "Kevin Red Star" in the bottom right corner and marked "2/150" in the bottom left corner indicating that it is one of only 150 serigraphs of "Crow Husband and Wife" made. The piece is set with a red border and a simple gold colored frame. The serigraph is in good condition with a small crack in the glass in the bottom right side. The frame measures 30 1/4" wide by 39" tall.

Included in this lot we have a ornate Victorian glass display cabinet. The display case is made of dark wood and glass with two mirrors set into the back. The piece shows three levels of shelves along with the top of the display case. There is brass ornamental pieces on the edges of the shelves with a soft cream colored velvet on the interior of the glass case. The two forward legs show wonderful leaf like floral carvings at the top portion of the leg. The piece is unmarked aside from the numbers "2229 12" marked on the back. The display case shows good condition overall with a few scrapes on a couple of the shelves. The piece measures 63" tall by 33" wide and 13" deep.

Winchester 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30 WCF (.30-30) caliber, serial number 235251, made in 1902. This is the classic, early 1894 Carbine that was popular with the Klondike gold seekers, Texas Rangers, cowboys, ranchers, big game hunters and Mexican Revolutionaries. One of the best of the Jonathan Browning designs; this model is still respected and used today. This fine 117 year old example still retains good aged blue on the barrel and magazine tube. It has the original carbine front sight and sports a correct and original carbine ladder rear barrel sight. The receiver still retains some nice original blue and has a tight action, lock-up and strong springs. The bore is dark with good rifling all the way through and just needs a good scrubbing out to be fine or better. The butt stock and forearm show normal handling along with some honest saddle wear to the forearm ahead of the receiver. The butt stock also shows normal weathering from long days riding in a saddle scabbard. The barrel shows correct, clear Winchester address markings and patent dates. The upper tang also has correct “MODEL 1894” over “Winchester” etc. markings and the right side of the receiver appears to have a very small ranch brand neatly scratched into the metal. The Winchester 1894 saddle ring carbine is an iconic carbine from the turbulent days of the early part of the 20th century. This particular carbine recently came out of Helena, Montana which was a quintessential Old West city in 1902 when this carbine first made its appearance. In Montana at this time every sheepherder’s wagon, cowboy, rancher, lawman or outlaw had a Winchester like this one close at hand! This 1894 Carbine has great character and visual appeal. Included in this lot is a U.S. Springfield Model 1868 .50-70 caliber Trapdoor rifle. These scarce U.S. issued military rifles were only manufactured from 1868-1872. All are serial numbered on the side of the barrel and breech block. This superb example has the same matching number of 27205 on each part. The Model 1868 is the direct forerunner of the later Model 1873 .45-70 Trapdoor Springfield. The Model 1868 Springfield utilized left over lock plates and other various parts from earlier Civil War .58 caliber muzzle loading rifles that the arsenal still had on hand. All lock plates on this model are from these earlier rifles and are marked with the American eagle over “U. S. Springfield” and dated either 1863 or 1864 on the rear section of the lock. This one is correctly dated 1863. Further, the top of the breech block is correctly and clearly stamped with an eagle’s head, crossed arrows and the date 1869. The butt plate is also sharply marked “U.S.” All metal parts were finished at the arsenal “in the white” which means metal parts were polished bright and not blue'd. This example shows exceptional bright parts and with clear, sharp markings. The stock also is in superb condition showing only very light handling marks and displaying the correct inspector stamp “ESA” in an oval. The bore condition is minty bright with sharp rifling throughout. The standard 32 ½” barrel retains the correct rear ladder sight with slide intact and the cleaning rod is also intact. These early .50-70 single shot Trapdoor Springfields were the rifles sent to the West for the early Indian Wars. The Native American warriors were in for a terrible surprise the first time they faced U.S. troops armed with these accurate, cartridge firing rifles. In the past, Indians waited for soldiers armed with muzzle loaders to fire. Then, when they were reloading, the Indians would attack. The first time they tried this, the troopers quickly reloaded and fired again with devastating results. From archeological discoveries made at the Little Bighorn Battlefield where George Armstrong Custer met his fate, it is known that Indian forces used a number of previously captured .50-70 Springfield rifles against the 7th Cavalry. It is also interesting to note that here in Bozeman, Montana, Fort Ellis would issue surplus .50-70 Springfield's to unarmed settlers in need of firearms to protect themselves. In the 1870s a large number of buffalo hunters were known to have used .50-70 Springfields to great and lethal effect on the herds. With production time and numbers small, the Model 1868 Springfield is a difficult arm for collectors to obtain. This is an outstanding example that would be hard to improve upon.

The center of the rug shows a symmetrical geometric motif with a beige background. The rug shows good condition and originates from the early part of the 1900's; it measures 57" x 35".

Featured in this lot we have a serigraph of one of the wolves from 'Wolf Medicine" by John Nieto originating from 1999. John Nieto is a Native American artist who is called one of America's most dynamic contemporary artist. He uses vibrant primary colors and bold brush strokes in his paintings to give them character and depth. The painting shows a wolf on a nondescript background looking out towards the viewer. The wolf is painted in bright oranges, greens, purple, blue, yellow, and white with more muted tones of tan and grey. The piece is one of a set of two paintings titled 'The Wolf Medicine'. The wolf is signed "Nieto" in the bottom right hand corner and marked "105/195" indicating that it is one of only 195 printed. The piece is set in a black border with a nice silver and black frame. It is in good condition overall with some minor wear on the frame. The frame measures 37" wide by 31 1/2" tall.

This lot features a great example of a Remington Arms Inc. Model 1902 Military 7x57mm Rolling Block Rifle. The rifle features a 30" blue'd barrel, casehardened receiver, No.5 rolling block action, and adjustable rear sight. These fine single shot rifles were the last of the famed Rolling Block action arms made by Remington. They were made on the large frame smokeless powder No.5 action. Considered the best and strongest of the type, these muskets were especially popular in all Spanish speaking countries from Mexico down through South America where the 1895 Mauser was the standard rifle in 7mm chambering. This model weapon was also very popular during the Mexican Revolution on both sides of the border. The 7 MM Mauser was the caliber that the Spanish used so successfully in Cuba during the Spanish-American War that led to the U.S. developing the famed .30-06 Springfield rifle. This is an excellent original example with deep barrel blue and original sights, very tight action, bright bore with strong rifling, and complete walnut stock, forend and hand guard (which is usually missing on this model), Excellent Remington markings and patent dates on the upper tang. This is a Winchester Model 62A .22 LR takedown pump action rifle. The rifle features a blue'd steel finish, straight grain walnut stock and slide handle, exposed hammer, 23" tapered round barrel, and tube magazine. The Winchester model 62 and 62A was a rifle that many people grew up with, leading it to be a very popular rifle. Winchester Model 62 and later the 62A, can last a lifetime. They were the .22 galley gun used in carnival shooting galleries for years and were often fired hundreds of times a day, thousands of times a week, year after year. The Winchester model 62A is a very accurate and about as reliable as .22 rifles can get. The rifle shows good condition, with loss of bluing along the barrel and receiver. This lot contains a pair of Flathead Native American Indian, high top tanned leather hide beaded moccasins. The moccasins show two piece construction, and reinforced soles. The moccasins use blood red, white, pink and black seed beads to adorn the edges of the legs, and to depict geometric pattern on the face of the foot. The moccasins show fair condition and are circa 1940. Each moccasin measure 7 1/2" from heel to toe, 2 1/2" wide at the ball of the foot, and 12" tall.

This 1800's beaded pouch shows a wonderful floral geometric pattern beaded in a whimsical manner all in period correct glass trade seed beads of Cheyenne pink, cobalt blue, medium green, semi-transparent red, light blue, chalk white, semi-transparent amber and semi-transparent Cheyenne pink. The bag shows an Indian tanned hide construction with ocher mineral pigment dyed surface having a fine fancy beaded edge. The top of the bag still exhibits the original Indian tanned hide tie, which is a rare and welcomed addition. The bag shows trade thread sewing and a wonderful rich patina. Measures overall 6.25"x4". The entire front shows a loomed beaded geometric pictorial pattern in glass trade seed beads of chalk white, greasy yellow, semi-transparent amber, semi-transparent red, Cheyenne pink, medium green, cobalt blue, black, sky padre blue, and semi-transparent. The front shows an eight-pointed star having an altering color design surrounded by various geometric pictorial designs which is accented by a fancy beaded edge. The Atlantic Bluefin tuna may exceed 2,000 lbs in weight, and rival the black marlin, blue marlin, and swordfish as the most popular fish for sportsman. Throughout recorded history, the Atlantic Bluefin tuna has been highly prized as a food fish. Besides their commercial value as food, the great size, speed, and power they display as apex predators has attracted the admiration of many fishermen. This prized Bluefin mount is missing a few finlets and some of the finish has chipped on the lower Ventral fins. Bluefin mount measures 9 foot 2 inches in length by 3 foot 10 inches from high (top of the highest fin to bottom of the lowest fin) by 23 inches off the wall. Bluefin Tuna is some of the most sought after fish on the culinary market with a record Bluefin selling in a Japanese market for 1.8 million dollars.

Featured in this lot we have a professionally taxidermied Montana mule deer shoulder mount. The deer shows a 5x5 rack with a drop tine on its left antler and shows excellent color. The deer itself shows a thick neck, and large size. As well, the mount displays an excellent color gradient, showing a soft, off-white face, fading to dark brown at the bottom of the neck. The mount shows good condition with no signs of shedding and one of the tines appears to be repaired. The racks measures 28 1/2" wide, by 26 1/4" deep and roughly 29" tall.

Included in this lot for bidding is a Winchester Model 70, Bolt Action rifle, chambered in 30-06 SPRG. The Mod. 70 was largely based off of the Model 54, and was nicknamed "The Rifleman's Rifle". Additionally, the Mod.70 was coined as the "Bolt Action Rifle of the Century" by Shooting Times Magazine, in 1999. The Model 70 began production in 1936, with this example originating from 1966-1967. This fine rifle utilizes cut-checkered texture on the walnut fore-grip and pistol grip. The receiver is mounted to receiver a scope. The rifle is marked in numerous places on the 21" blue'd barrel, reading; "-MADE in U.S.A.- Winchester Proof Steel - Winchester ® Model 70 -30-06 SPRG." on the left side of the barrel, "Winchester Trademark" on the padded rubber butt-plate, "Winchester -Trade Mark-" on the left side of the receiver, and "442381" on the right/front of the receiver. The rifle includes the original front sight, and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. Overall, the rifle shows very good mechanical condition, and good aesthetic condition. This is a first edition of "Stanley in Africa" written by James P. Boyd and published in 1889. The book is a wonderful narrative about the travels and adventures of Henry Morton Stanley in Africa during the late 1800's. The book features an illustrated cover and spine decorated in gilt. The book has many illustrations throughout with a striking chromolithograph next to the title page. The book shows good condition. It measures 9.25" x 0.75".

This is a rare early edition of "Life of Kit Carson: The Great Western Hunter and Guide" by Charles Burdett published in 1869. This is a wonderful biography of the famous Western Frontiersman. The book features a decorated cover with a gilt lettered spine. The book is in good condition. It measures 5.5" x 7.75".

For your consideration is "Beyond the Mississippi by Albert Richardson, published in 1867. This book follows his account of a trip from Sacramento to Salt Lake that Richardson made that year at the invitation of CPRR President Leland Stanford to inspect the ongoing construction of the rail line. A new edition of his popular work appeared two years later in 1869 to which Richardson had added several new chapters including one on the planning, construction and importance to the nation of the then newly completed Pacific Railroad over which he had just traveled. The book measures 9" x 6.5" x 2".

They are led by a scout wearing the wolf headdress traditionally representative of his position. On the return from a successful trip, it was customary for them to stop a few miles from home so they could paint their bodies, blacken their faces and put on adornments as signs of victory. The rocks surrounding the party show images of musicians, warriors and people on horseback chasing either buffalo or elk. The print measures 17 3/4" x 16 3/4". The oak frame measures 25.75" x 30.5".

For your consideration is a Frank McCarthy "Where the Ancient Ones Hunted" print numbered 10/65. This piece depicts a group of Indians moving through some rock petroglyphs. These petroglyphs were created by ancient Indian civilizations. They can be found in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Texas and in a place called Three Rivers, New Mexico, there are so many it looks like an amazing Indian sketchbook. The print measures 15 3/4" x 23 1/4" and is framed in oak that measures 32.5" x 30.5".

Featured in this lot is a pair of Al Furstnow Batwing Leather Chaps from Miles City, Montana, circa early 1900's. Al Furstnow departed the Omaha, Nebraska saddlery of J.S. Collins in 1885 and began working in Miles City, Montana for both the Moran Bros. and Robbins & Lenoir saddleries. By 1894 he started his own business, Al. Furstnow, which lasted only five months before he formed a partnership with Charls Coggshall, and the firm was known as Furstnow & Coggshall Saddlery. After the demise of Furstnow & Coggshall, Albert Frank Furstnow established his own business, Al. Furstnow Saddlery, in Miles City, Montana in 1899. These vintage chaps feature conchos down each leg and a floral tooling design on the belt. They are in good condition and measure 40" (including belt) by 15.5".

Featured in this lot is a pair of vintage Saunders Western Leather Chaps made in Alberta Canada. These vintage leather chaps show a studded design along the waist and two front pockets. They also feature fringe down both pant legs. The belt is marked "Saunders ____" (not legible) and made in Calgary. These Western chaps show a rich and timeless brown leather. The chaps and belt are in good overall condition and measure 35" (including belt) by 11.5".

This is a Plains Native American Indian bison tooth and beaded medicine pouch. The piece is made on tanned hide with a beaded design on both sides. The beadwork is done with glass seed trade beads in colors such as Chalk White, Black, Light Turquoise and Turquoise. The bag also shows a fringed edge all the way around with the bottom accented by bronze and amber beads and dentalium shells. The front of the medicine pouch is decorated with a bison tooth. The Northern Cheyenne beaded bag is in good overall condition. The bag measures 10.25" x 2.75".

Featured in this lot we have a collection of three early Northern Plains Indian stone weapon heads. The set consists of an axe head, a war club, and hammer all made of stone. The heads show grooves allowing them to attach to a wooden handle using rawhide to fasten them. The hammers grooves are nice and clear while the war club and axe heads grooves have faded a bit with time. The pieces show good condition overall with wear and chipping indicative of age. The hammer measures 6" long by roughly 3 3/4" in diameter, the war club head measures 3 1/2" long by 2 1/2" wide by 2" tall, and the axe measures approximately 7 1/4" long by 4" wide by 2 1/2" thick.

This is a pair of Crow Native American Indian beaded gauntlets. The gauntlets show a soft, supple hide construction with calico trade cloth lining. These rare pieces date to circa 1900's and are truly a rare find. The cuffs have a wonderfully beaded floral design made from traditional glass seed trade beads. The gauntlets also show a fringed bottom edge on the cuffs. The Crow beaded gauntlets are in good condition. They measure 12.5" x 8.25".

This is a pair of Crow Indian beaded high top moccasins from the early 1900's. The set shows a high top wrapping and thick leather soles. The rifle features a 22" round barrel, original walnut stock and slide, and blue'd finish on a take down design. The model 12 is a pump-action, hammerless, solid breach, side ejecting rifle. This rifle, designed by J. D. Pederson, was introduced in 1909 and produced through 1936. During the 37-year period, there were 820,759 guns sold. The gun featured a hammerless action and competed quite successfully with the 1906 Winchester which still had an exposed hammer. The piece is marked on the top of the barrel in front and behind of the rear iron sights. The rifle shows good condition overall with some signs of wear and use, along with a small crack in the wood slide. Mechanically the gun is in very good condition with a smooth and tight action, working safety, and a nice bright bore. First introduced to the commercial market in 1956, the 572 Fieldmaster rifle incorporates a tubular magazine capable of feeding .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle rimfire cartridges, a cross-bolt safety, and an aluminum receiver grooved for scope mounts. The rifle is marked across the top of the barrel and on the left side of the frame. The rifle also comes with a weaver D4 scope set across the top. The rifle shows original factory bluing with a few scratches and a minor spot of rust, but is overall in very good condition. The rifle is a tube fed loader with the tube accessible through a slot in the front fore grip. While Shoup started his own company making the registers, the other cash register companies of the time started building their own. The idea was this: A wooden box with a lockable cash drawer and a tally roll. The tally roll moved automatically when the drawer was opened and was under a separate lock to prevent employee tampering. This one, dated 12-01-04, was built by the National Cash Register Company in Dayton, OH. According to the tag on the bottom of the drawer, the machine was built for H.K. Fites of Winamac, IN; it was sold by W.H. Miller of Lagansport [sic], IN. The box is of quarter-sawn oak and has brass elements, including an inkwell and combination lock. The register appears to be complete mechanically with the working drawer and combination lock. The bell does not ring, but seems to only need a spring to function properly. Missing are the two keys and some brass decoration. The piece measures 17.25" x 19" x 8.5". Excellent condition.

Offered in this lot we have a Dietz Acme inspector lantern originating from the early to mid 1900's. The lantern shows a all metal construction aside from the glass globe at the center. The lamp was used by inspectors to check trains for damage or maintenance issues before it left the station. The piece is marked in a number of areas first being the back of the lantern is marked "Dietz ACME Inspector lamp New York. U.S.A.". It is marked "Dietz" across the top and the glass reads "Dietz Fitall New York. U.S.A.". The lamp shows good condition overall with some rust and wear indicative of age. The piece measures 13 1/2" tall by 8" wide.

Featured in this lot we have a Armspear MFG rail road lamp. The lamp shows a metal frame and lid with a glass globe at the center. The lid is marked "Armspear Man F G Co. "1925" - New York - E" with a "E" marked on the globe as well. The piece shows brass internals also marked "1925" with a oil lamp adjustable wick. The inside of the piece is marked "Use long time burning oil only No 300". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear. The lamp measures 14 1/2" tall with handle and 8" wide.

Offered in this lot we have a frosted glass crescent moon boudoir lamp from the 1920's. The lamp ans shade shows the image of a young woman staring at stars while seated in the crescent moon. This image is repeated a total of three times on the shade and twice on the base for a total of 5 of these images. The piece shows Art Deco accents along the base. The lamp in in good condition and measures 14" tall by 7" in diameter.

Offered in this lot we have a set of two Art nouveau bronze candleholders for the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The candleholders are constructed out of a single piece of bronze with a granite or marble base. The pieces shows wonderful angular geometric patterns with floral patterns in between sections. These are beautiful pieces and show good condition with little to no signs of wear. Both of the candle holders measure 10 1/2" tall with a base diameter of 5 1/2".

Featured in this lot is an Antique Oak Spindle Back Ladies Rocker. The chair shows a beautiful oak finish and excellent craftsmanship. The top of the chair features an intricate carved design. There are seven spindles on the back of the chair and six around the base below the seat frame. The chair does not include the actual seat and is left to the buyer's preference for future upholstery or custom installation. This chair is in good overall condition (one bent spindle) and measures 38.5" T x 18" W x 30" D.

For your consideration is this antique pressed back walnut Victorian rocker. The rocker features turned spindle-work and a pressed back scroll design with a dark finish. For your consideration is an Arana Y Compania - Eibar top break double action revolver. This Spanish made revolver is chambered in 32-20 long. It features a 6" blue'd barrel, cylinder and frame. These top break revolvers where typically produced as a copy to the Smith & Wesson M&P. One key difference is the cylinder latch. The Eibar does not have an external cylinder latch, instead to open the cylinder you pull on the ejector rod. The barrel and frame both show multiple stamped hallmarks and the frame is stamped "Made in Spain." The barrel shows signs of holster wear as well as fading to the bluing on the cylinder. Included in this lot is an St. Etienne No. 1 Semi Automatic pistol. Le Français semi-automatic pistols were originally developed in 1913 by French small arms designer Etienne Mimard, who at the time worked for the French company Manufacture Française d’Armes et de Cycles de Saint-Étienne, which was later renamed to Manufrance. This was simple and unorthodox weapon, which was put into production in 1914 as a pocket-type personal defense sidearm, chambered for then-popular 6.35mm Browning (.25ACP) cartridge, and designated as "Le Francais" (the French). This pocket pistol is magazine fed and has a top break action to clear spent cartridges. Included in this lot is a set of early August Buermann "OK" spurs. The spurs are both marked on the outside of the yolk with "PAT'D" and a stamped star. They are missing the hallmark for North in Judd which dates these spurs to before the merger in 1926. The spurs have a mild multi-point star rowel. August Buermann was born in Germany in 1842 but later travelled to the US after taking his apprenticeship in lock smithing. After joining the army as a substitute at the age of 22 he began making spurs for the civilian and military. The spurs are in good condition for the age. Both spurs measure 5" x 4".

The shotgun features a 28" round barrel, full fixed choke, straight grain pistol grip walnut stock, cross bolt safety, 6 round magazine. The Winchester Model 1912 (also commonly known as the Model 12, or M12) is an internal-hammer, pump-action, shotgun with an external tube magazine. Popularly named the Perfect Repeater at its introduction, it largely set the standard for pump action shotguns over its 51-year high-rate production life. From August 1912 until first discontinued by Winchester in May 1964, nearly two million Model 12 shotguns were produced in various grades and barrel lengths. The shotgun has a 28" blue'd barrel, walnut fixtures, and a case hardened receiver. The shotgun is marked in numerous places, reading; "Champion - Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works - Fitchburg. MASS. U.S.A." on the left side of the receiver, "-12 GAUGE FULL CHOKE. BARREL AND LUG FORGED IN ONE" on the top of the barrel, and serial number "78210" on the lower tang. The shotgun shows good mechanical and aesthetic condition overall for its age with some cracks on the stock where it meets the tang. Mechanically, the shotgun has a solid hammer and trigger, as well as a strong case extractor with some excess movement in the ejector switch. Included in this lot we have a Belgian Flobert Style Warnant single shot 8mm parlor rifle. The rifle features a heavy 24 1/4" octagonal barrel, fixed sights, ornate trigger guard, blue'd finish, and checkered walnut stock. The rifle originates from between the early 1890's to the early 1920's. The piece has very few markings, on the top of the barrel is marked "Bllcium" and a "R" with a star above it on the side of the action and receiver. The three main Flobert variants are described and illustrated in Single Shot Rifles And Actions by Frank De Haas. Many Floberts were made of very soft steel and designed to sell at the lowest possible price. In 1920, when a box of 100 blackpowder .22 shorts cost 21 cents, the price of a new Flobert rifle was about $2.50. The rifle shows good condition overall for its age with some dents and slight pitting in areas, there are two sizeable cracks in the walnut stock. The mechanics are fully functioning. For your consideration in this lot we have a J. Stevens Arms Company Favorite Trade Mark Model 1915 falling block block single shot rifle chambered in .22 long rifle (.22LR). The rifle shows a factory blue finish with 24 inch round barrel with an adjustable altitude rear sight. The barrel is marked, "J. Stevens Arms Company / Chicopee Falls, MASS. U.S.A. - 22-LONG RIFLE". The top of the half octagon receiver shows the correct marks along with the Model 1915 marking on the rifle tang with a number of dents and scrapes on the receiver. The rifle features a falling block action that is operated by a lever that doubles as a trigger guard. This model shows a take down screw in front of the lever action. The piece shows original walnut stock and grip. The rifle is in good condition overall with some wear and light pitting. This is an original Bob Scriver bronze sculpture pen holder titled "Paul's Bull". The piece shows the buffalo laying out on the prairie. Robert Macfie Scriver (1914-1999) was born in Browning, Montana (in the heart of the Blackfoot Indian Reservation) in 1914. Scriver began sculpting using taxidermy to learn his craft of making wildlife bronzes. By 1962 he became a charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, had been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, and a member of the National Sculpture Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. This is a Lost Wax Bronze Casting and shows a walnut base. Sculpture measures overall 4.5"H x 4"W x 4"D. Bob Scriver bronzes have been valued at over $30,000-$50,000. He is believed to be "The Cowboy’s National Sculptor" and one of the finest Montana bronze artists of the 20th century. This bronze is in good condition. It has been signed by the artist and is numbered 206/1000. It measures 8" x 4.75" and is 3.5" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a collection of three Briar wooden smoking pipes. The first of the pieces is a Imported Briar pocket-pal travel pipe. The pipe shows a wonderful red/brown wood with large grooves set in to the piece and is marked "Pocket-Pal Imported Brair" on the side. The second pipe is a Hawthorne imported briar pipe. It shows a dark brown color with a rough exterior and is marked "Hawthorne Imported Briar" across the bottom of the wood shank. The third and final piece is a Duble Barrel imported Briar pipe. The pipe shows two chambers, one on each side of the bowl. It is marked "Duble Barrel Imported Briar" on one side of the shank. The three pipes are in good condition overall with the duble barrel having never been used. The pocket pal measures 4 1/4" long by 1 1/2" tall by 1 1/4" wide, the Hawthorne measures 6" long by 1 3/4" tall by 1 1/4" wide, and the duble barrel measures 5" long by a little over 1 3/4" tall by 1 1/4" wide.

The dolphin is carved from a dark soapstone with some brown and grey lines throughout and the wave is made of a light tan and grey soapstone. The piece is marked on the bottom, reading "Miles Metzger 1986 - 89/500". The piece is one of only 500 like statues. The statue is in good condition with no signs of damage. The statue measures 10 1/2" long by 3 1/4" wide by 8 1/2" tall.

Anne Aller Overstreet was born in Livingston, Montana in 1949 and lives in the Big Timber, Montana area. She is primarily known for her miniatures paintings which emulated the Western Cowboy life in which she was raised. Anne won Best of Show at the “1978 National Miniature Exhibition." The water color depicts a roping scene where two cowboys are roping a bull. The frame measures 9" x 12.5" The image is double matted and measures 7" x 3.225".

For your consideration is a Bonnie Marris "To Stand and Endure" print numbered 463/1000. This piece depicts a choice the buffalo in Yellowstone had to face following the fires that tore through the park in 1992. Stay in the meadows where they use their heads in huge sweeping motions to dig for grass in the snow or to go to the geyser bases where the steam from the geysers offers them warmth. It was a choice between expending their precious energy digging for food or sacrificing food for warmth. Ultimately they chose to head to the geyser basin. So there the buffalo stood, like monoliths in the steam. This print measures 17" x 39" and is framed in hardwood that measures 49" x 26.75".

For your consideration is a limited edition Milton Lewis "Silent Scout" print numbered 392/750. The image shows a scouting party making their way through an aspen forest. The print measures 16 3/4" x 27" and is framed in white washed oak. This piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and is signed by the artist Milton Lewis.

This is a scarce early edition of "The Yellowstone National Park" by Hiram Chittenden published in 1903. The book provides a comprehensive description and guide to America's first national park. The book contains many illustrations and maps. It is in good condition and is complete with the folding map in the back of the book. The book measures 5.5" x 7.75". The folding map measures 9.5" x 14".

This is a set of 30 Yellowstone National Park stereoviews with guide book and folding map from circa 1909. The stereoviews were published by Underwood and Underwood and show numerous scenic points from inside the park including Old Faithful, Fort Yellowstone, Golden Gate, Keppler Cascade and many more. The stereoviews come with the original storage box. They are all in good condition. The box measures 4" x 7.75".

This is a scarce edition of "The Story of Kit Carson's Life and Adventures" by Dewitt C. Peters published in 1875. Kit Carson was an American frontiersman who lived as a mountain man, Indian agent and Army officer throughout his life. This book chronicles many of his greatest adventures. The book shows good overall condition with a beautiful gilt decorated cover and spine. It measures 6" x 9".

For your consideration is a Highlander Beer Advertising Sign from the Missoula Brewing Company in Missoula, Montana. The sign has a blue glass backing with red decorative font. Sign reads "Try Highlander Premium Beer - Brewed and Bottled by Missoula Brewing Co. Missoula Montana." Measures 6" x 4".

The mount shows a wonderful and tall 5x4 antler rack with a unusually dark face for a white tail. The mount shows good condition overall with no signs of shedding. Included in this lot is a Montana Ring Neck Pheasant taxidermy mount. This male Ring Neck Pheasant was done by a professional taxidermist and sits atop a 15" fence post. The mount measures 31.5" from the base to the top of the pheasants head and 24" from the tip of the tail to the extending edge of the barbed wire.

Featured in this lot we have a Merwin, Hubert & Co Junior chambered in .22 caliber. Merwin Hubert & Co was based out of New York City from 1874 until 1891. This rifle is stamped across the top of the barrel in front of the rear sights. The stamping indicates that this firearm was manufactured in the Hopkins & Allen factory in Norwich Connecticut. Those rifles made in the H & A factory and marked Merwin & Hulbert & Co are not often encountered. It is a lever action falling block breechloader featuring the factory original bluing. Barrel and receiver have acquired a nice patina. The rifle has its original walnut fore grip and stock. The action and pin have a little play in it. The hammer lock firmly when cocked back and functions properly when the trigger is pulled. The rifle is in fair condition with some wear indicative of age and it is missing a section of the stock on the left side. Featured in this lot we have a branding iron from the 1989 Montana centennial cattle drive. The Montana Centennial cattle drive was to celebrate Montana's 100th birthday. The cattle drive was a 60-mile trip from Roundup to Billings and had a total of around 2,400 riders guiding 2,800 head of cattle. The event was done to experience a little of the life and challenges of those who came before us. The branding iron is made of three separate irons fused together. The brand is in the form 89 above a half circle and was used to mark the cattle in the drive. The piece shows good condition with some slight rusting. The piece measures 16" long by 3 3/4" at its widest.

Included in this lot is a freshwater white pearl necklace. This necklace contains 101 unique freshwater pearls measuring 8-9mm. The necklace is hand knotted between each individual pearl and measures 32" long. Pearls and necklace are in wonderful condition.

For your consideration is a black pearl necklace and earring set. The necklace contains 50 unique black Tahitian pearls measuring 7-8mm. Black pearls are an organic gem formed from the black lip oyster primarily cultivated around the islands of Tahiti. The necklace measures 16" long unclasped and the earrings are two individual studded black pearls.

Featured in this lot we have a Chinese pewter and jade coffee and tea set. The set consists of tea kettle, creamer, coffee pot, three smaller cups, and a large platter. The set shows wonderful engravings across the outside and jade handle. The collection shows good condition overall with some slight wear. The platter measures 15 3/4" in diameter and the tallest piece measures 10 1/2" tall by 3 1/2" in diameter and the smallest piece measures 2 1/4" tall by 3 1/2" in diameter.

For your consideration is this pair of C.A. Lund hickory and rawhide Huron style snowshoes. Lund Ski Manufacturing Company, in Hastings, MN, was owned by Norwegian born Christian A. Lund; it was a division of Northland Ski Manufacturing Company in Saint Paul, MN. Lund made snowshoes, skis, hockey sticks and toboggans in Hastings from 1927-1945. A massive fire destroyed the Hastings plant in 1945 and Lund operations were moved 20 miles away to an existing building in St. Paul. The snow shoes are in very good shape with the original leather bindings. There are remnants of the Lund stickers on each snow shoe. "Guaranteed not to sag" is burnished into the wood as is the size: 14 x 48 [inches].

Featured in this lot we have an Acoma Native American pottery lamp. The lamp shows a Acoma Indian pottery jar set on a wood pedestal with a lamp coming out of the top. The piece was made by Pueblo potters along trade or tourist routes, who often would made items such as pottery lamp and other item that would appeal to tourists and passers by. Its possible that the makers name is on the underside of the pottery jar, but its unfortunately blocked by the wooden base. The jar shows wonderful stylistic geometric patterns along the surface of the piece. The piece come with a nice rustic looking lamp shade. The piece is in good condition overall with a few scuffs. The piece measures approximately 27" tall by 20 3/4" in diameter overall with the jar measuring 13 1/2" tall by approximately 10" in diameter.

Featured in this lot we have a Navajo Native American signed pottery jar. The piece shows a wonderful form with with hand painted designs across the surface. The sided of the jar show the images of a desert landscape with geometric patterns across the top. The piece is signed on the bottom reading "Julia Bllchirn Navajo". The jar is in good condition overall with some wear and damage as shown. The piece measures approximately 8 1/2" in diameter and 9" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a signed Navajo Native American pottery jar. The jar shows a wonderful shape with hand painted geometric patterns and designs across the out side of the piece. The designs are all painted in black with a color gradient of red, orange, yellow, and blue going from the top and bottom with the blue meeting at the center. The piece shows a red painted neck with black rings at the base. The jar is signed "Smitty Bine" across the bottom. It shows good condition overall with some slight wear. The piece measures approximately 7" in diameter and 6 3/4" tall.

For your consideration in this lot we have a Yuma Native American women beaded medicine bag. The bag shows the side view of a women's face made of colored beads. The beads are primarily black with some white, pink, purple, clear, and some dark metallic beads worked into the piece. The bag is made of soft black leather with a single internal pouch. The bag has a bead work strap with brass fasteners. The piece is in good condition with no signs of wear. The piece comes with a display case that measures 12 1/4" tall by 8 1/4" wide.

Featured in this lot we have a Mimbres Native American frog effigy jar from around 1050 to 1200 CE. The Mimbres culture was located primarily in Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico with some reaching down to northern Mexico. The Mimbres culture was around from 1000 CE till 1200 CE. The Mimbres where known for their distinctive pottery styles. This piece is created in the shape of a frog with its torso being the pottery jar. The jar also shows hand painted geometric patterns and spots on the frog. The geometric patterns are all roughly the same design with brown and black paint. The piece shows no signature or makers mark. It is in good condition overall with a few hair line cracks. The piece measures 3 3/4" tall by 4 1/4" wide and 5" long.

Featured in this lot we have a Montana custom horse collar mirror. The horse collar is made from leather and provides the frame for the mirror. The collar does have the wooden and steel hames attached. A collar such as this would have been used on a horse as it pulled a wagon or plow in the days before mechanized farm implements. The piece is marked "295H H W" across the top. The piece shows good condition with some wear on the collar. The piece measures 23" tall by 17" wide and 6 1/2" deep.

Included in this lot we have a Montana Chief Gasoline advertising sign. Montana Chief Gasoline was marketed by and a product of the Inland Empire Refinery in Spokane,WA. The Spokane refinery was supplied with crude from Cut Bank, MT as well as Wyoming. The refinery, which was operated between 1939 and 1953, was processing 11,000 train cars of crude a year at the beginning of WWII. Inland's fuel was also marketed under the brands Washington Chief, Oregon Chief, and Idaho Chief in each of the three other states respectively. This modern sign displays wonderful graphics and good color. It is in good condition overall and measures 35" in diameter.

Featured in this lot we have a large Rarin' to-go Frontier one sided advertising sign. The sign is constructed out of tin, with applied graphic. The sign shows a red background with the image of a Cowboy on a rearing horse. The sign reads "Rarin' To Go - Frontier" across the bottom of the piece. This modern sign is in good condition overall with no signs of wear or damage. The piece measures 35 1/2" wide by 35" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a Mobilgas advertising sign. The sign shows the red Mobil gas Pegasus logo on a white background. The advertising sign is marked across the front of the piece, reading "Mobilgas - Socony-Vacuum". Socony-Vacuum name was included on Mobil signs from between 1931 to the mid-1950's. The sign is in good condition overall with a little damage on the upper left corner. The piece measures 32" wide by 31" tall.

For sale in this lot is a pair of vintage Olympia beer advertising posters originating from the 1970's. The first piece shows a Victorian style woman, encircled in a maroon vignette. The poster reads "1910 Geeting - It's The Water - Olympia Brewing Co. - Olympia Washington". The second poster depicts a Victorian woman encircled in a purple vignette. The poster reads "It's the Water - 1909 Greetings Olympia Brewing Co. - Olympia WASH". Overall, the set shows very good condition, Each poster is preservation shrink wrapped on acid free mat board. The larger poster is the red vignette, which measures 39.5" x 23"

Featured in this lot is a rare 12-gallon Red Wing crock from the early 1900's. Red Wing Union Stoneware, now Red Wing Pottery, refers to American stoneware, pottery, or dinnerware items made by a company initially set up in Red Wing, Minnesota, in 1861 by German immigrant John Paul, which changed its names several times until finally settling on Red Wing Potteries, Inc. in 1936. The pottery factory that started in 1861 continues to the present day under the names of Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Stoneware. This crock is marked "12 RED WING UNION STONEWARE CO. RED WING, MINN." One of the original handles is included. It is in good condition for age (small crack), weighs 49 pounds, and measures 17" tall and 16" in diameter.

Featured in this lot we have a Korium Solingen knife with nude women handle and original leather sheath. The knife shows a sharp straight blade that curves to a point. The blade is marked "Korium - Forged Solingen Steel - Made In Germany" on the left side of the blade and marked "U.S. Pat. Pending" on the right side of the blade. The handle is gold painted cast iron in the shape of a long haired nude women. The leather sheath shows a metal end cap and is marked on the back "Made In Germany". The knife is in good condition overall with a few spots where the gold pain has been rubbed off the the figure. The blade measures 6" long with the piece measuring 10 1/4" long overall.

Included in this lot we have a large 8" German butcher cleaver made by F. Dick with a leather sheath. The 8" blade is marked "No 92 - 8" - F. Dick - Made In Germany" on the left side and is marked "8X24" on the right side. The piece shows a nice green handle that gives the look of wood. The sheath is made of nice dark leather. The piece is in good condition overall. The blade measures 7 3/4" long by 4" wide and measures 13" overall.

Offered in this lot we have a World War 2 US Navy U.S.N. Mark 1 fighting knife with sheath originating from the early 1940's. The knife was manufactured by Camillus in New York. The knife shows a nice straight blade with full tang and leather grips. The knife is marked on the blade reading "U.S.N. MARK 1" on the left side and "Camillus N.Y." on the right side. It comes with its original sheath made of canvas steel and rubber. The sheath is marked U.S.N. MK 1" across the front and "Nord-6804 - B M Co 1/0 VP" across the back. The piece is in very good condition with some minor sheath friction wear on the blade and some slight rusting on parts of the sheath. The blade measures 5" long and 9 1/2" overall. The sheath measures 10 3/4" long by 2" wide.

The sign shows a white circle with a cowboy on a rearing horse at the center with red lettering reading "Rarin' To Go!". The piece shows a red border with black and white lettering reading "Frontier Gas" in the border with two stars separating the words on each side. The sign is made of porcelain enamel and shows good condition overall with some minor wear. The piece measures 11 3/4" in diameter.

Featured in this lot we have a collection of four gold and silver plated belt buckles from Hesston for the National Finals Rodeo. The rodeo buckles are marked "National Finals Rodeo Hesston" with the year and the AGCO logo. The two 50 year Hesston buckles are marked "1947 - 50 - 1997 Hesston" with one marked for the rodeo and the other marked "A Half Century of Innovation". The buckles are marked on the back identifying them as part of a limited edition commemorative series. The pieces are in good condition with the two 50 year pieces still in their shrink wrap. Metal is untested. The largest piece measures 3 3/4" wide by 3" tall.

The outer ring is made of 20 tear drop shaped turquoise with silver droplets in between the pieces, there is a piece of braided silver around the next group of 8 turquoise cabochons, with a single piece at the center. It is unmarked in the back. The second piece is made in the shape of a lizard out of silver with 4 pieces of sleeping beauty turquoise along the lizards back. The brooch is marked on the back, reading "M Sterling". Both pieces show good condition overall with the floral one showing some nice warm patina. The first one measures just under 2" in diameter1 3/4" wide by 1 1/8" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a sterling silver and agate large bear pendant. The bear is made out of a large piece of brown agate and shows colors of brown, white, tan, and orange. The agate is set on a sterling silver backing and bordered with curled pieces of silver. The pendant shows a loop for it to hang as a necklace and the piece is free of markings. The pendant shows good condition overall with some dark patina around the border of the piece. The piece measures 3" wide by 3" tall.

Featured in this lot we have a Northern Pacific railroad lantern originating from the 1920's. The lantern shows a red painted metal exterior with a clear glass globe. The piece is embossed "Dressel - Arlington. N. J. - NP" across the top with "Made in USA" across the globe. The piece shows good condition overall with some minor wear on the paint. The piece measures 14" tall by 9" at the widest with a diameter of 6".

Included in this lot we have a Native American wooden tobacco cutting board. The board is constructed out of pine with brass tacks set into the piece in a sun like pattern. The cutting board has a crack on the side that has been repaired with copper wire. The tobacco board is from the 1900's. The piece is in good condition overall with some small cracks. The tobacco board measures just under 13" long by 11" wide.

Featured in this lot we have a primitive hand carved wood yoke for oxen or mules. The piece is made of a single piece of wood using primitive hand tools. It shows spots for two creatures to be hooked up most likely mules due to its size. The piece is in good condition overall with light signs of wear. The yoke measures 48" long by 4" thick.

Featured in this lot we have a Acoma Native American Pueblo ceremonial pottery canteen. The canteen shows a wonderful form with two handles and hand painted with geometric patters across each side. The patterns show a circular pattern with it split in quarters with the patterns mirroring the opposite quarter. the other side shows a solid orange circle with a black border. It is marked on the bottom reading "Acoma B. R.". The piece is in good condition overall with some light wear. The piece measures 5 3/4" tall by 5 1/2" wide.

For bidding in this lot is a signed Fran Yazzie, Navajo Native American Indian cuff, or bracelet. The piece is crafted of heavy sterling silver, and shows a striking band of white opal laid across the top. The band of the cuff is bordered on each side with gorgeous sterling silver, braided twists. The inside of the cuff is marked "Sterling - F", attributing to the .925% sterling silver purity. Overall, the cuff shows very-good condition - boasting a bright white mirror tone on the silver, and tightly set opals. The cuff measures 2 5/8" wide, and 2" tall. The inside circumference of the cuff equals approximately 6 5/8".

Offered for sale is a beautiful example of a Signed Navajo Native American Child's Sterling Silver Cuff. The piece is signed "GE Sterling" denoting it was crafted by the artist Gary Edwards. The cuff features a single sleeping beauty turquoise gemstone. The quality is very good with great detail. The condition of the piece is good showing little to no wear. The inner circumference is 4".

Offered for your consideration is this Plains Indian polychrome painted buffalo hide jacket. The jacket shows handmade construction from tanned buffalo hide with fur on the inside for comfort and warmth. The jacket has a fur collar, a coin silver button, and is adorned with hand-painted polychrome traditional geometric shapes. The coat measures 15.75" shoulder to shoulder; 14.75" shoulder to bottom hem; it has 18" sleeves. The jacket is in good overall condition, though the hide is dried and not supple, and one of the buttons is missing.

Featured in this lot we have a carved bear fetish made of Carico lake turquoise. The piece is made of one solid piece of turquoise from Carico Lake, Nevada. The bear shows two yellow eyes with good detail in the face and body. It is unmarked and free of any makers marks. The piece measures 2" long by 1 1/4" tall.

The earrings are made out of bands of sterling silver with nine pieces of sleeping beauty turquoise and silver droplets. The earrings also feature three pieces of silver dangling off each earring. PEND - C-31 - DJN". The tie shows good condition overall with some speckling of dark patina. The bolo measures just under 3" long by 2" wide.

For sale in this lot we have a Navajo Native American sterling silver necklace with turquoise and coral. The necklace features two wing like silver pieces connecting to the silver pendant. The pendant shows five patterned silver droplets with a cabochon of sleeping beauty turquoise and a red coral cabochon with two silver feathers hanging from the piece. The piece is marked on the back reading "Sterling M" which is the hall mark for Arnold Maloney. The necklace is in good condition overall. The necklace measures 14" long overall with the pendant measuring 2 1/4" long by 1" wide.

Featured in this lot is a Navajo Native American Ganado Handmade Wool Rug, c. early-mid 1900's. The rug features a tribal figure motif in the center with a vibrant red border. The majority of the rug shows a brown and off-white background and two dark brown stripes on the long edges. This rug shows good overall condition and measures 48" x 28.5".

This is an original Navajo Native American Indian hand crafted wool trade rug. The piece shows a wonderful Teec Nos Pos pattern with finely tight knotted design and vivid natural dyed coloring. The rug shows earthy tones such as brown, gray, cream, and black. It includes many steps and triangle symbols. The piece is circa early 1900's. It is in good condition and measures 51.5" x 31.5".

This lot provides a rare opportunity to bid on a unique piece of history tying together fine Navajo tapestry, the Santa Fe Railroad, a Hollywood film star, and a noted Montana collector of Native American art. For your consideration, we present this Navajo open field tapestry rug. The tapestry rug features a cream colored open field bordered by a wide band of beige with an outside Greek Key border of cream, beige, and brown. The four corners of the rug have tassels, the top two having extra yarn. Woven into the center of the open field is the name, John Russell, with "JR" woven into either end of the open field. That name is what makes this piece interesting. John Russell was born in Los Angeles in 1921; his acting career spanned 43 years, from 1945-1988. The decades of the 40's and 50's were the heyday of rail travel and the Santa Fe Super Chief, running from L.A. to New York, was the train of choice for Hollywood stars. The Super Chief ran right through Arizona and New Mexico where passengers could purchase Navajo made goods. This tapestry rug had been part of the collection of Bruce VanLandingham of Bozeman. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The rug is in very good condition. it measures 35.5" x 57".

The poster is in good overall condition and set in a nice red frame. The piece measures 22" tall by 18" wide.

The first sign shows a wonderfully detailed, embossed image of the Chicago administration building and is marked across the face, reading "Worlds Columbian Exposition - Chicago - 1893 - Administration Building". The second shows the embossed image of a early bicycle and is marked across the face of the piece reading "Rambler Bicycles - Compliments of - Gormully & Jeffery MFG Co. - Chicago - Boston. Washington. New York. Coventry, Eng.". The piece shows good condition with a nice warm finish. The diameter of the coin measures 2 3/4" and is 3/8" thick.
